 4A question, Purple top?? |

I was online earlier and found someone selling a 4A-GTE purple top with transmission, ecu, afm, ignitor, clutch ect. for 800 dollars. When I emailed him he just told me that it is 16V. So my question is, is when did Toyota make a purple top? or a 4A-GTE for that matter? I got lost in Club4AG, so I gave up there, but if anyone knows more info/specs that would be great. Thanks
Matt Edit: This is a picture of the GZE that I can get. 40K miles out of a MR2. I can't use that transmission though, can I? Is it worth the 600-800 dollars? Also, why aren't the letters red, along with the spark plug cables? I thought they were like that...

i think he's trying to swindle you. the 4age never came with a factory turbo (super was on the mr2) and never came in 'purple top'
theres the black, red, and silver top, those are the only 3 i'm aware of. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_A_engine#4A -------------------- |

If anything I believe it was probably a GZE that they made into a GTE, and painted the valve cover. I will try and get more details from him later.

Not if the supercharger was removed in favor of a turbo...

He replied back to me saying that it is a bluetop TVIS with a turbo. Roughly 40K miles.
Edit: Now he is saying it is not turbo, just a bluetop TVIS. He said the 4A-GTE was a typo. He does however have a 4A-GZE from a AW11 which I might pick up.
