so today i get home and turn off my car take the key out of ignition open my door and its beeping like the key is still in so i thoght i left a light on or some thing i check every thing is turned off by the way my car is a 95 auto so its telling me the key is in when its not i go to look my doors and it wont let me i have to get out close the door and lock the door with the key i dont know wher to start or what to check if some could help me that would be cool oh and yes the car is in park

basically your car still thinks your key is in the ignition, it could be a short that bypasses the switch that tells your car that your key is in the ignition, or the switch itself could be stuck. The reason your doors wont lock with your door open is becuase of the safety feature or toyotas. It will not let you lock your doors when your keys are in the ignition becuase then you may lock your keys in your car. So my guess is that the switch in the ignition is stuck or something.

that happens with my 5th-gen every once in a while... just put your key back in the ignition a little bit and jiggle it around...

mine did it too i got a locksmith to release a lil secret on how to fix it he told me shoot a quick shot of wd40 in it n then a light puff of powderd graphite


it werked till we killed the car
