So, ill admit, when it comes to car audio, im a "super noob" . So I need some advice on what to upgrade first. I have an aftermarket headset with 40Wx4, and an aux input (very impotant because i only use my 60gB ipod to play music). So its not a killer headset, but for the most part it gets the job done. Also, most of my music taste falls into the category of rock/punk/pop-rock/ect. So, now im asking you, what conponent should i upgrade? Im planning on upgrading my audio slowly as im only a poor student, but i just have no idea which conponent is going to give the most bang for the buck at this point. Thanks

u should first get a new receiver, like a modern one, it will sound better.
next add some bass, get like a 8 inch bazooka tube or wutever they call it, its got an amp and a subwoofer built in it. its even got the high level inputs and low level inputs. if you want more power, you could just get an amp and a bigger sub. if your that kinda "good enough" type of person than that should be good enough, but if you want it to really bump you should get new speakers, oh and you have the 4 speaker system, i duno about the tweeters. well yeah, the head unit is important, if you get one, make sure it has an aux output cause if it dosent ur gona have to get something like an FM modulator or one of those cigarette adapter things to play the ipod. -------------------- Is this good enuff 4 ya? :D

Yeah you need aux input for the ipod. Im in the process of getting new audio stuff and im starting with the head unit. Then i'll probably get new speakers and wait on the amp+sub.

Poor Student = Walmart = Poineer Speakers (bout $100 for 2 6.5" and 2 6*9) put the 6.5" in the doors, and 6*9 in the rear hatch cover (if you have one) and disconnect the stock rear speakers. Then save your money for some good subs and an amp! and you will be set!
p.s. its the same thing i did and now i win competitions lol -------------------- |

doesn't that setup rattle your cover a lot?
I would start with the headunit as it will bring out most of the power that your stock speakers can handle. -Immediately begin saving up for the speakers! the added power, if not careful, will blow them very easily. -Lastly, consider the amps and subs. I have used this progression to upgrade all of my systems. I have been happy with each upgrade and it temporarily satisfied my urges for a super powerful sound system. when it got to be too much, then i upgraded to the next item. -------------------- ~bloodMoney

Now before you go drilling through your hatch cover, make sure thats what you want, because its a $350 OEM part. Because you could just cut the speaker bracket in the rear to fit in 6x9s...and they'lll be hidden, which means less likely to be stolen. Also when you get there, put ur amp and bolt ur sub box in with torx screws or allen wrenchable bolts/screws. never met a thief who showed up with a torx screw driver AND an assortment of allen wrenches

i would suggest a deck. im getting a new one hopefully tomorow. i nice touch screen one . but go with a deck becuase if oyu have a stock deck but really nice subs and stuff with amps and all that. your stock speakers MIGHT not be loud enough with the subs. (it happened to my friend so all he could hear of his music for 5 months was his subs lol)
