Seems like a neat system with lots of features, but for the price I would definately setup a carputer instead.

yea i wanted the car pc for a while. but This seems like less of a chance of things going wrong. i work in IT...i'll be damned if i have to pull over my car to trouble shoot why windows media player wont play my playlist lol. That gps issue Kriz is having is an issue. Im in NYC and there is nothing but buildings. Would there be a way to some how extend the signal of the gps receiver?

i've been thinking on the carpc for a long time now. was hoping to find a really slim version of linux with audio and gps. now i don't care so much about gps, 'cause there's no good 100% free gps road map+location database. and i usually do fine with maps.
so, yeah, anyways, now i'm thinking about a carpc just for music. wanting to build one that can handle a flash drive for os+software and a single 3.5inch hard drive for media (nothing like paying 80 bucks for a 250gig), a little concearned with hard-drive shock resistance, but i've got an excess of them right now. |

Maybe little off topic but wanted to show you guys one other thing i have in my celi - xbox media center. It has almost everything you need in a car. You can put on on there some music, videos, games, pics, linux, emulators aso. I have 250gt harddrive on it and love how it's so easy and simple to use and don't have to carry on all those cd's. Here is the link to site where you can find out little about this system (it's in finnish but i think you can still get the idea) --> xbox media center. And btw all this cost me something like 250euros (includes: xbox, harddrive, mod-chip, wireless control and the modding it to media center) and of course you still need the screen. -N

I have never seen the reason for GPS... cuz I'm good with directions . The 7"-8" tv's IMO are pretty chill and the computers as well but paying over 2g's for it all? little steep ....thats more than half of what i have total in my car including the purchase... but if you decide to i'll give you props for having the most expensive dash
