Lucas Pure Synthetic Oil Stabilizer Options

Has anyone ever used that Lucas Pure Synthetic Oil Stabilizer on their car? A mechanic friend I know said that his friend uses it on his B18 civic hatch and it works good, especially to quiet the valve train. Personally, I'm pretty "iffy" when it comes to oil additives. Any opinions or comments?

the shop I usually go, eveytime they do any major adjustment on an engine they put one of those lucas stabilizer, I don't know if it helps but seems to work fpr them so I don't think it would hurt to give it a try.

its just a viscosity enhancer, or in plain terms....it makes your oil thicker and stickier. you might as well just use a heavier weight oil, also the lucas stuff ive heard...
lacks a good additive package (anti foam namely)
will wind up on your crankshaft more-so than your plain oil

i put in one quart every time i change the oil and i use royol purple 10-30. it does'nt make as much noise and it does'nt use as much oil as it used to. my engine has 90,000 miles on it and it used about two or three quarts inbetween oilchanges, im almost due for another oil change and have not had to ad oil yet!

i'd like to see someone do a UAO on some fresh oil mixed with that lucas stuff to see what it modified the viscosity to. the only reason its made the engine quieter and stopped oil loss is because it takes your 10w30 and makes it alot thicker, probably closer to 20w40

its good for 'robbin horsepower and gas mileage with all that viscosity...I'd just get a good synthetic oil..those are so much better than normal oil.

You see those little stand with the knobs you can turn...its way harder to turn the one with the additive in it. Same with thing with, your engine!

not only is it harder to turn, look at all the bubbles that get whipped up into it, what do you think happens when an air bubble gets between bearing and journal surfaces?

The same polymers that make oil act as a multi-viscosity also cause oil entrapment.

In 15W40 or 10W30 there is not a much of either weight oil, it is a mixture of light oil and heavier oil to make a blend that acts as a light oil would. The polymer net encapsulates the different size oil molecules at different temperatures to form a oil that acts like a heavier oil would.

All they are doing is adding a polymer mixture along with larger molecules of synthetic to form a thicker oil.

Synthetic oil is more immune to the effects due to a consistant molecule size.

Okay I understand where everybody is coming from as far as this oil additive goes. I guess i'll just stick with the mobil 1 10w-30 on the celica and not add the additive. Thanks guys
