No, the BEAMS tranny, I think it's a version of the S54, but a little better. I recall reading about it at one point.

i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this.

Hmmm well this S54 didn't have LSD. But yes, the 5th gen axles went right in.

I haven't REALLY opened it up yet because I'm waiting on a tach adapter part so that I can actually tell what RPM I'm at, but it feels VERY smooth and VERY quick. Kind of like a stock ST185 3SGTE, but without the sudden surge at 2500 RPM, and without the power drop-off above 5000 RPM.

hey tweak, i got my wiring mostly figured out, you prolly have a bit more experience than i do on this one, my Battery Warning light remains on for some reason or another.....do you know of any wiring issues that may cause this? Yes it is a 92 Celica Convertible that went 5SFE ---> 3SGE BEAMS. I know its not a faulty battery and i know the alternator works, tested it with different batteries & did an alternator test, and it does charge very well.....im wondering if there is a electronic load sensor i need to wire somehow?

There's three wires that plug into the alternator, one of them switches that warning light on and off, I would trace that wire out and see if it's going to the right place.

I've been wanting to get the body rot fixed for a while now. My wife offered to pay for the work as a birthday gift to me. Money in her account has been piling up. shes been so sick for a while now. As soon as I put the car in the body shop, Julie's condition worsened dramatically. She won't get to see the car painted. Julie died the morning of november 3 after a 2 year decline due to als.

truely sorry to hear this, your wifes a very funny gal, and definatly knew a cool car when she saw it.

Knowing this, you now need to finish the body work, and really make the car something she would have wanted it to be.

I wish you the best of luck in your troubling time, and really hope to see you at next years CSP meet.
