I was just sitting in engineering lecture zoning out today and got to thinking about this. Would there be any point? Any advantage to be gained by doing a front mount water to air intercooler? Is it even possible?
Anyone?

I don't know if it is possible but even theoretically analysing such solution doesn't indicate any advantages, actually other way around. Comparing to top-mount W2A you would have longer piping in the engine bay, so air is exposed to high temperatures on longer route to the engine. Front-mount would be recommended if you need higher capacity IC and place to fit it.

thats how it works already. you have a front mount heat exchanger that cools the coolant. then an electric pump cycles the cold coolant to the top mount.

yupp, one of the main benifits of WAIC is it minimizes piping and lag
