I'm more of a reader than a poster around here, but I've got a few problems I can't put my finger on. Firstly, whenever I start up my '95 Celica gt and then I immediately brake there is this clank noise. This happens as soon as I push in the brake and am going at a very slow speed. Oddly enough, after the car warms up, the sound dissappears. Now I haven't checked my brakes in a while, but last time I looked they still were in decent condition; the rotors also look fine to me. My second issue seems to be another cold start problem. Again, while driving at slow speeds, I can hear each rotation of one of the rear wheels. Every rotation there is this clicking noise. Like my first problem, it seems to go away after the car warms up or if I drive at a faster speed. My Celi's got 65, 0000 miles so far....Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreacited.

I will recheck the brakes, but the rotors don't appear to be warped...the CV joints were my initial concern....thanks the reply.

there is a TSB for the front brakes clicking, if thats what your hearing there is nothing wrong with your brakes its just annoying.

lol yup i think its normal.
i got that little thing too, i wouldnt call it a problem. it just sounds like a clamping noise. obviously thats what the brakes do, they clamp on to the rotor. it happens sometimes, not all the time. its like a "Clamp" short but not really noisy. -------------------- Is this good enuff 4 ya? :D

It needs to be really hot to work, and thus has no relation to cold start…The computer ignore the sensor’s output until a few minutes after the car has started. Yeah, that's essentially the noise it makes. I've never heard other cars make a similar sound, so that's why I was assuming something was wrong. If that's just the way it is....that's the way it is. I also got around to checking my brakes. Both front and rear have well over 50% pad left so it can't be that. I still think my rotors are fine as well because I've been told your steering wheel would vibrate a lot while braking if they were warped. Thanks for the replies. i had a problem similar to that.
my brakes clicked the first time i used them. i did some tests, and they did it anytime i changed directions. it was just my pads moving around. some silicone between the pad and piston took care of the noise. |

my celi does the same thing, you should check your pad retaining clips, sometimes they get a little rusted and they dont hold the pads in place very well.
