Actually, it should be the other way around, you put the 8" midsubs on the door, which is towards the bottom of the door where your feet are.
If you have the 8 speaker system, you could do wonders, with nice infinity speakers (kappas if you can afford it) for the 6.5/6.75 rear speakers, modify to fit 4" speakers, kickers or pioneer 8' midsubs on the door, titanium tweeters where the factory tweeters are, and get a hard pounding sub for the rear like JL, kicker, boston acoustics, or rockford, take your pick. You might wanna run an amp for your speakers other than the sub as well. Youll have lotsa fun, cus our celicas have lotta speakers to work with. i have 2 subs in my rear speaker locations... i always hated sub boxes... and rear speakers r kidna useless... altho i think my subs are a bit smaller than 8"...
in the front i use 6.5" components. (i got the 6-speaker system) it sounds really nice imo... it's clear and crisp and jsut enuff thump... but i guess depends what you want.. i didn't really want my car to rattle like it's about to fall apart and i dun need bass that's so loud it could be heard a mile away... i think u should find some free air/IB subs if u do this tho but if ur into spl.. well i guess this isn't for u This post has been edited by elvasoshexai: Oct 10, 2006 - 10:19 AM -------------------- |

I want to double check on the stock speaker sizes. I have the 8 speaker package and from what I can see, it's 6 1/2" in the rear, 8" front bottom, 4" front mid and 3/4" tweet front top?
I was a bit disappointed when I gutted my old car and found that none of my speakers from it will fit in this. My 6x9's are a no go, my 5 1/4 components will require making brackets, the 1 1/4" tweets are too big, my sub box is too wide and thick. Looks like I get to play around in the coming weeks. As for the too much bass comment? To each their own. I'm an audiophile and i want my car to sound good with full, rich sounds. I've already been through 8 subs and about 7 amps and many thousands of dollars just to get my car to sound great and I intend to keep doing it. If your car rattles that much, you didn't spend the time on your install that you should have. There's a ton of products for sound deadening a car. it just takes time. Some people want speed, some looks and some sound. This post has been edited by Sinyk: Oct 10, 2006 - 2:11 PM -------------------- ![]() |

My 8" sub is actually in the rear deck of my coupe, and I really like having the sub there. Not a ton of bass, but I don't want a ton of bass so it works out well.

I do like the speed deal and looks.....thats why i was thinking having those 8" speakers in the back, but where could i get these door panels that have more than one speaker in the bottom? ![]() QUOTE(Sinyk @ Oct 10, 2006 - 2:09 PM) I want to double check on the stock speaker sizes. Besides making the hole in your door and adding an aftermarket speaker grill, you'd probably have to get new doors or new interior panels. The problem I have seen is that the 4" speaker is one piece with the bracket and you either have to cut out the stock speaker to use the stock mount bracket, or you need to fab a new bracket to hold a different speaker, not to mention you need a speaker with a shallow mount depth or else you are going to have to cut a chunk out of your door.
With enough amps (and money), you can make your car have as many speakers as you want to. ![]() -------------------- ![]() |

Of course in my opinion and from my profile, theres good sound quality in my car. I listen from hip hop to rock and it both sounds good without adjusting my settings. I can give you guys an idea about the 4" speaker. Generally our stock brackets are only able to fit a shallow 4" speaker. Some have cut out a piece of their doors to fit it in. What I used on mine to fit is I used speed clips to the panel instead of to a bracket.

imo... a nice set of front components + a nice set of subs @ the back should sound awesome... don't really need the premium sound door panel if ur car didn't come with it

so then, how hard is it to fit subs in the place of the rear speakers? I know it'd be easier to fit subs up front and speakers in the back, but I'd like to have the subs in the back so that they are not too overpowering of the higher frequencies.
