Ok i am just as tired as everyone else about hearing how mel gibson bad mouthed the jews and what not. But I am very suprised how little I have heard about madonna reanacting being crucified at her concerts. Now I know that the jewish makes up a large portion powerful people in hollywood. But What I don't get is how some nut job that changes their religion every other day can reanact something so serious as jesus being crucified and it be shown as part of her concert that is going to be broadcast on NBC.

what madonna does on stage isnt "offensive." What Gibson does is offensive. Thats the difference.

how is mocking a religion u don't believe in unoffensive.I know what mel gibson did was wrong and I totally think he is an ass for it. But if people are gonna get so up in arms about one person mocking a religion then don't be biased. She shouldn't be allowed to mock christianity on national t.v. because its not art it's her way of taking a cheap shot at her old religion. I am not some jesus freak I have my beliefs but never do I go around talking about church cus honestly I never go. But this juss gets to me for some reason

How is she mocking christianity by depicting a crucifix on national TV? I dont see it as being a cheap shot at her old religion at all. Now if she was wearing a Devil outfit with horns on her head and doing that...yes its a cheap shot, but just cuz she depicts a crucifix doesnt mean she's mocking it. There are MANY artists out there that arent even catholic or christian that paint crosses and crucifixes and even crucify themselves for the sake of art.

So u don't consider her dressing up as the pope and dancing on stage or pretending to get crucified or dressing as a priest while singing like a virgin offensive.Then I don't know maybe I am taking it the wrong way. I guess she is intitled to her freedom of expression. I can see your point

no i dont find it offensive and i do come from a catholic family. its entertainment. shock value. madonna has lived by it. she cross dressed in some of her music videos. ozzy osbourne bites the head off of a bat. marilyn manson worships satan. i dont see how she degrades the religion by doing that.

in the new borat movie coming out...do u take offense that Borat (a middle eastern man) sings our national anthem and uses different lyrics? no.

but on the other hand, mel gibson is just a pompous jack ass. He BLATANTLY bashes the Jewish community and even degrades it in Passion of CHrist, blaming the Jewish.

She's defied the industry she works in by always being one step ahead, the oppisite of the mainstream for the time, and as such, controversy will follow her every move. Trying to discredit her artistic ability because what she does is controversial would require you to ignore that fact that she has become an icon in pop culture, and has immense popularity...

the thing that killed me about passion of the christ was how after everyone watched it they were like "oh my, im gonna be a better christian, it really makes me wanna change my life"


....why? because you didnt realize how badly he was beat and treated? Thats just horrible. It was like Gibson is trying to base the whole religion on the fact that jesus was tortured.
