So I finally found a tuner shop..relatively close to where I live, willing to do my 3SGTE swap. It's owned by a guy whose son I played football with...so atleast I know 'em. He has a white supra that's dynoed at 735hp. That's better than sex..well..almost. I'm printing off some information about the swap and taking it to him tommorow so he can quote me a price. I Next week Im taking out a loan and buying parts like craaaazy.

I'm concerned about traction issues to..should I go ahead and get an extra grand (I'm planning on 5k for the swap) for some wheels to get the power down?

If this all goes good..I'll have the only swapped 6th gen celica in East Tennessee. Wooo yah.

sweet. that'll be fun to drive. but not as fun as that 735 whp supra. i think some wider wheels and good tires would go great with the swap.

just get some 17s with some decent wide tires on there and your traction will be fine.

He runs slicks on that supra and still has trouble hooking up the horsepower..It's an automatic and races through the gears..Almost undrivable on the street. I just need some giddy up..thats almost overkill.

Up on a lift was his brother's 240sx. Twin turbo..also with an insane amount of hp. He threw out some crazy number. I'm not too familiar with nissan's but I guess it's possible.

Cant wait to get this thing rolling. What should I expect as far as how much they're gonna want to do it.

most shops that i know of that do the swaps want about a grand... he might hook you up a little, but then again who knows...if you are close to the guy, you could try and comprimise with him and ask him to let you do a lot of the work, just with his help and his tools to give you a little discount or something, but id say labor alone would be close to a grand... good luck

For just the labor?
I was thinking around 4 for all necessary parts and maybe a 1500 for labor?

well, youll have to talk to the shop and see how much they want, but it all adds up quickly. you'll need a new clutch, replace every rubber gasket you can think of, misc tune up parts, fmic, exhaust work, gauges, etc... 4-5grand is a great mount to have when you are doing the work on your own, but most people that ive seen go to a shop spend around 7grand when all is said and done.

After the loan i should have around 6500. Hopefully that'll get it going. How long should the swap take them? On average.

maybe you should ask the shop that.
you can swap in as little as 1weekend to as long as 1yr. it all depends on whos doing the work, and how much research was done before hand.

I'm putting some info from this site together and taking it to the guy tommorow. Just an outline of the swap plus wiring diagrams and such. I've done a good amount of research on this and they've done JDM swaps in the past...so all in all hopefully we'll have everything covered.

I'm sure this site will continue to be informative so I'll keep you all up with my progress and any troubleshooting that we may have.
