Lo all,

I drive an AT200 and wanna put in a 3S-GE engine.
I found a shop near my place that apparantly does these kind of things but I got a few questions that I wanna ask u guys and the compare answers with what they say.

First of all, they say they can use the AT200's tranny with minor adjustments, they even recommended it because the gears were shorter ( more acceleration).
Can the tranny and coupling handle the power or not??

They were gonna keep the old ECU and put in some Computer of they're own to bypass the engine things. Anyone ever heard of this, will this keep the 7AFE's rpm limiter?? I sure hope not.

Are there other things I should be concerned about and need to ask them, like exhaust, axles, suspension, ...

I know there are a lot of posts about engine swaps, but I never found the answers to these questions.

AT200 - ST, I dont kno if you would WANT to use that tranny - its not very durable and with a 3sge ur going to be pushing alot more power. You should go and get the 3sge tranny also, then they will both bolt up and even if you decide you wanna add even more power, it'll handle it.

The computer they're talking about is probably a complete engine controll system which you CAN do, however. They're about $1,000 and you still gotta pay to install it. Im unsure about the limiters but most likely they wont exist.

Axles are definately important, if you have to much power your going to bend them. I cant see the AT200 being able to handle all this power, and again, i'd recommend 3sge axles. Suspension you dont need to do ne thing with and the exhaust you'll probably need, if not want, to enlarge it, with aftermarket exhaust.

first of all, the tranny you have will NOT bolt up, not with out pointless modification.

buy a front clip with a 3sge in it. it will have a tranny that is fwd and that would be the perfect tranny for a fwd swap.

and as for the ecu, it will not work. you will need either the ecu from a 3sge or a stand alone ems/aftermarket ecu.

a front clip will have all the parts you will need

Well, I found out more about the motormanagement: brandnamed Dastek Unichip -> http://www.dastek.co.za/

About the tranny I read this: http://celica.net/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?u...c;f=29;t=004436
Is there anyone who knows definately yes or definetley no?

At this moment I'm not real sure if I want the motorswap. They told me it would be about 4-5000€. If I also need a new tranny,... this amount will go up even higher.

Gonna have a good talk with the guy next week.

Thx for replies so far

the celica st tranny could hold up to 250 or so hp,

BUT IT WILL NOT BOLT UP TO A 3SGE OR 3SGTE engine.

it will not bolt up to any toyota engine that has an S in the engine code

I've heard the GT tranny being able to hold up to 250 but never the ST, anyone else confirm this?
