okay guys got a 97 gt and everytime i step on the gas it sputters i need help on finding out which part needs replacing, the sparkplugs are fairly new the guy at the mechanic shop told me i need a new fuel filter and some other stuff he's charging me $250.00 need advice

fuel filter=$30-$50 at nearest auto parts store. Replace yourself. Labor cost=$0. Money saved=$200. Thats my advice. And if its mis-firing it will be happening throughout the whole driving range, even at idle. You will be able to hear it. And it will backfire like hell. So, its prolly just the fuel filter. Thats my advice.

check wires and distributor cap as well
