I stopped by the dealership to see how my car was and they were finished. Took them 1 week to remove the key marks and repaint the whole car. The car is blue, but when you look closely, there are little black dots that appear to be paint. The guy that is in charge of giving face said he thinks the paint itself has black specks in the metallic... bullcrap. I bought my car 6 months ago brand new and there were no "specks" on it. Then he calls the painter and he says it's from the clear coat... um, i thought clear coat was clear... not black. So I'm guessing it must've landed on the car from somewhere and these guys are trying to give me the runaround. I want to know if this is really from the clear. From my knowledge, i'm guessing they didn't clean the gun good or something and the black got on the car... someone respond asap so i can go there tomorrow and tell them to re-do it. Thanks!

Clear coat is just that: clear. There shouldn't be any black spots in it. Definitely sounds like they messed up.

Regardless of what they tell you as reasoning as to why it has black in it, if you aren't happy with the job becauase the car isnt the same as it was before, that's reason enough REGARDLESS of what crap they feed you, period. If you are an unsatisfied customer they can't force you to accept a job that you aren't happy with. If it comes down to legal action, its a matter of them proving neglegence on you not paying because you arent happy, and you stating that your car never had black flecks in the car before it got resprayed... Pretty hard for them to get a payment forced out of you when they then have to disprove you by providing evidence that there IS black in the paint from the factory...

Edit- I just noticed that you said dealership- so i'm assuming a Toyota dealership. If I were you i'd contact Toyota's customer service headquarters and tell them what the dealer told you, who told you the bull, why you are unhappy about what they told you, and then ask what recourse thay are going to do for you- more than likely they will contact the dealer who did the work for you and tell them to fix whatever it is you say is wrong ASAP- it sould eliminate all the bull and runaround... (make SURE you are polite, but you must be firm)

wow bro, i just went an hour after i had left again and saw that my front bumper was scratched too. i guess when they took it off, they placed it somewhere and the edge near the headlights are scratched up and the oem paint is coming off. bro, this was the only part of the car that was perfectly fine. all this carefullness on my f'in part to dodge rocks on the highway and now they have to repaint it because they were careless. i am so upset i dont even want this f'in car anymore.

and yea, its a toyota dealership. my car was an 06 model and ive owned it for a good 4 months... i know damn well what the old paint used to look like. anyone know how many base coats they put on the new cars nowadays? the base coat looked VERY thin.

My tC has so many chips and light scratches that go down to the metal from careless people in parking lots it's not even funny. The paint is def. not as thick/good as the 6th gen. I'm personally really dissatisfied with the car overall. My Celica is so much quicker and well put together it makes me want to give the tC back and just get another 6th gen. The engine and everything down to the enterior feels so fragile. Not the quality I've come to expect from a pre '00 Toyota. My '02 Camry was pretty much the same way.
