FORGMANN ur mail box is full lol. ive been told ur the guy to ask when it comes to the speed source poly engine mounts.

Which ones do i get? the n/a mr2 one or the st165 one? and also ive hear some of the mount must be modified, whats if n e thing must be modified?

btw i have a st205 motor mated up to an s54 tranny.

im running the st205 front mount and the s54 tranny rear mount.

i looked under the car and lined up the tranny mount from the st205 tranny and it looks like it may be able to fit with the s54 tranny mount bracket....... the st205 tranny mount is about an inch and half to the left then the s54 tranny mount (the rubber circle part) however looking at the bracket on the tranny and the stock s54 mount it looks like i have about an inch and half of space where i could move it to the left.

heres a rough drawin of what it looks like.

can i jsut use the gt4 rear mount ive been told it wont line up with the s54 tranny braket however it looks like it will.

has anyone tried it?

hey,
i used 185 poly mounts installed into st205 front and rear mounts .. they work but required a lot of modding .

speed-source ships 2 thin poly and 2 thicker poly units you use on specific mounts but on st205 mounts you have to use 4 thin and speed-source doesn't ship that set at this time ..

regarding your set up.. you might condsider other poly inserts that fill in mounts .. i am not sure if any other speed source mounts will work ...

most mounts are same diameter just thickness is different ..

btw if you order any mounts get SS clutch line too .. top notch stuff ..

i am going to carl's shop next year when my st205 is done and might see if he can rearrange poly mounts and offer a thin set for st205 mounts .. with these you engine will not move ..

Jesse, those mounts are good, but these are 1 piece -- not just partial inserts.. he is looking for a full replacement.

my rear mount no longer has any rubber at all in it so i might as well jsut get a complete swap out of the rubber instead of jsut the inserts.

email from the Nathan Rich of speed source.

"You are correct that one of the GT4 mounts is wider then the other. This
might be what you mean when you say that it "sticks out" - that is something
a little different then most of the other mounts we sell.

Subject: RE: motor mount questions

from what ive heard i do need ur st185/alltrac mounts. The poly peices stick

out of the mount a bit right? the st185 set comes with two that sick out a
little bit and two that stick out a lot right?

how much do the they both stick out?"

Nathan says gt4???? im pretty sure he means the alltrac st165/185 as i was under the impression that only the st205 was the only one known as a gt4 and the rest before where alltracs.

either way he said that only one of the inserts where thick and stuck out and the rest of the three where thin. I emailed him back to verify that only one was thick with pix or something.

from what ive gathered the front one needs two thin ones and the rear s54 one needs one thin one thick. This is gathered from looking at pix of the rear and front mounts off of my car and off of that link for the other inserts. If u look at the rear mount in that link it appears as though only one side is thick and the other side is relatively thin, similar to the two thin ones in the front.

well i put them on today.

turns out that the st165/185 motor mount set will bolt up no problem.

i am using an s54 tranny mount bracket and mount in the rear and in the front im using the st205 mount and braket.

the kit bolts up with no modification however i did grind down about 1 to 2 mm of the big insert for the rear mount to allow it to slide in a little easier.

I also modified the rear mount just to make it go in and out easier with out having the bottom part of the mount hit the braket thus allowing it to be taken off in the similar fashion as the front.
