My job changed their policy this year so that if you call in sick two days in a row you have to bring a doctors note or else you go on probation for 90 days. No matter the reason. So even if you call in sick on a Monday you would need a doctors note because they count Sunday as a day...even though they arent open on Sundays! Anyone else have this policy??

QUOTE(amysmojo @ Dec 7, 2006 - 10:52 AM) My job changed their policy this year so that if you call in sick two days in a row you have to bring a doctors note or else you go on probation for 90 days. No matter the reason. So even if you call in sick on a Monday you would need a doctors note because they count Sunday as a day...even though they arent open on Sundays! Anyone else have this policy?? Technically you did not call in sick on Sunday. 2 Days in a row should refer to their business days. Monday - Friday/Monday - Saturday. So, if you called in on Friday, THEN Monday, you'd need a note. That's like saying you'd need a dr's note if you called out on a Friday, bc you have Saturday and Sunday off anyway. Your company's policy is ridiculous and could probably be classified as unfair business practices. -------------------- |

I agree. You dont get paid for sundays so I'd bring this up to HR. There maybe little you can do but it is unfair.
2 days by itself is ****ty. What if you have a stomach bug? Your expected to go to the dr. and pay a copay just to get a note? Ridiculous. -------------------- |

Thats how it is at my work we have a point system for the first 90 days you only get 6 points if you call in sick for a hole day you lose 2 points and if you lose all 6 before your 90 days your fired. Also after the 90 days if you havn't used your 6 points then you have 20 points. The gay thing is you have to give them a 24hr notice that your going to the dr. to get the day dismissed without losing points. So really how can you tell your gonna be sick the next day and going to the dr? Yea its stupid, if you lose 10 points you get a written warning. and if you lose 15 points you get a day off lol. and if you lose all 20 your fired. How dumb is this rule?

You lose a 1/2 point if your 9 min late and if your gone for half a day you lose 1 point. And to gain the points back. Lets say i was sick today Dec 7 <-(today) I have to wait till Dec 7 next year to get them 2 or 1 points back. -------------------- |

Yea there is a ton of jobs here in my town that are all on stupid point systems. This town is dumb. Can't find any good jobs. Pretty much if you want a good paying job you have to drive an hour any way from Fremont.

at my job you get 8 days of no questions asked sick days a year which is replinished say if you used a day on 21st of November you don't get that day back until the same day next year. Only had to use one legitimate sick day in 2.5 years since I like to get that sick pay at the end of the year

i got the flu once and missed work for like a week. when i came back, they tried to tell me that if i didn't give them a doctors note that i would loose my job. i said.... "not my fault that i have to work here for 1 full year before i get health insurance. if you want to give me a payout from petty cash to cover my visit, then ill gladly get you a note" .... that shut them up pretty quickly ...hahahaha

disney has a point system as well and i think its pretty kickass. there are so many loop holes that i was able to use it to my advantage. their points go as follows:
1.5 for every tardy (more than 5 minutes late) 3 for every day missed you can call out continuous up to 3 days and only get dinged 3 points for the entire 3 days. anything after 3 days u need a note 4 freebie days u can call out anytime during the year no questions asked and u dont get into trouble any points accumulated drop off on the first of the same month next year. so if u called out dec 28-30th u get marked only 3 points and they drop off dec 1st of next year. disciplinary actions are in order: verbal warning, written warning, 1 day suspension, 3 day suspension, termination when more than 9 points in a month, 15 pts in 3 months, 21 points in 6 months, 30 points in 1 year. i dunno how but i managed to rack up 80 somethin points in one year. -------------------- |

I can take as many days off as I want, whenever I want... I just don't get paid for them and I have to let my boss know at least a day in advance. The summer time is full of this- since there is no school in the summer and all we do is reimage all the school computers.
