Found this on ebay and consider buying it for my swap...but...here's the down side, it is an automatic tranny...i know this sounds stupid, but that shouldn't make any difference in the power of a manual vs. an automatic right? i can still change the tranny from an automatic to a manual and the parts to this ST215 will still have all the right components and same ratios...get the same 260HP and so on right?.... kindasad.gif

HMMMMM THAT engine looks familiar.... wink.gif
and lagos is right, if youre doing it youreself....GET A CLIP! very important! or you can send it to dr tweak.... the wiring harness is a LITTLE bit different. and you may HAVE to go with a fmic because the top mount will not fit under the hood unless you want to cut a hole in the roof... the motor is a BEAST though...

i plan to have someone do it for me...but just worry about the tranny...i want manual....will the automatic be an effector/affector...? and of course, if it doesn't go well with buy, im going for the ST205 clip of course with the projectiles and hood and everything else...smile.gif

yeah, i probably could, but just looking at the pic, you see there is no ecu, harness, ignitor, coil pack, etc...etc...etc... trust me, get an st185- or and st205 clip (aka 1/2 cut of a car where nothing is missing) . if you buy this, youll just have a huge headache on your hands.

the tranny can come off, and you can put a manual 5s tranny on it or the manual tranny that goes on the rest of the 3s engines

i understand lagos...and you're right, i have read other posted with this situation, not the St215, but other 3SGTE and did they ever wanna scream their lungs out...CHECK THE ENGINE ONLY IF YOU GOT T"IME BRO...according to what the guy emailed me, he said that it would be included, but it was very vague info feedback. Just say that all with this engine will be given to be sufficient in do a complete swap. kindasad.gif whatever that means...

they lie. not because they are trying to screw you over, but because they really dont know what you need/dont need to make it run. not to mention that they only really care about making money. for the 10th time, dont buy this, buy a clip.

I would agree with the rest, get a clip and the caldina engine is good but the dp and turbo are one piece and you will need a mr2 e153 trans with that power. I got just the engine st205 and it took me forever to find all the electrical parts that had been swiped. just my 2 cents. thanks lance

okay...you guys are awesome, just finding the clip is so much more expensive...saw this engine for only 1.5 G, so thought it was a good thing. thanks to all! Easterpiro1 Where you buy your clip?

tweak got the engine set since he already done the swap many times. if youre not going to have someone who has done the swap several times before, get a clip. and you dont HAVE to use a mr2 tranny, i have a 5s tranny on it. wink.gif

reasons not to buy this engine:

1) automatic, meaning you will get an automatic ECU. If you mount it to a manual tranny it will throw engine codes

2) missing little things, stuff that will just add up because you will either have to go through all the local engine importers to get these little parts. Or buy them new from toyota which will be very expencive. ( such as 100 dollars for a tiny sensor).

That transmission is a 6-speed AWD automatic, and can't be used in any FWD car. (I wonder if I could fit this whole setup into a US ST185... hmmm... biggrin.gif) The ECU is an OBD2 system, but it can be used by wiring resistors into the harness where the shift solenoids would be (easternpiro is using the auto ECU and it runs perfectly with no codes). That auction states that it doesn't come with any of the other parts you'll need (ECU and harness), so I wouldn't get that one, especially not for that price.
