well im helping a buddy with his civic, he's swapping a k24 into his ek hatch, we got everything ready and it runs just about fine until we get it tuned. well the issue we are stuck on is there is something wrong with the clutch system. the clutch pedal has a lot of back pressure on it, and its only a simple clutch, so it shouldnt be that hard to depress the pedal. we've bled the damn system a helofalot of times so thats not the issue, also in the process of bleeding the system we've blown 2 master cylinders and 3 slave cylinders on it. we are stuck. plus when u press in the pedal, the slave cylinder doesnt have the full motion it should. i hope we dont have to drop the tranny again, cuz this thing has been a headache as it is, and we cant start my swap until we finish his, but we are thinking it has something to do with the pressure plate, any info guys? help me out...

stock clutch and stock pressure plate? isnt there a stock upgrade to the clutch hydraulics, swap the **** from a RSX or one of the little acuras. check around on some honda forums, i dont know the exact car or exact years.
it does sound like something went wrong, can you even drive it? are the gears able to engage? i'd venture a guess that the PP and clutch disk arent lined up right and something is binding badly. dont force things to work, you can make a simple problem worse. -------------------- |

we can drive it and it goes into gears, but just barely, like we can get it to shift, but it feels like there should be more ease in shifting the gears... im thinking we have to drop the tranny again, i just want to cover all bases first cuz like i said, more down time for him equals more time before we get my project under way, and i cant wait for my swap

you'll have to drop it and inspect everything. are there any fluid leaks? have you bench bled the cylinders before you installed them? did you need to make new hydraulic lines? what kind of flare did you use?

initially we were using a combonation of a hard line and a ss threaded line, but we though there might be a crimp on the hard line, so we switched to a full ss braided line, no help. no fluid leads, and what is flare and what do you mean by bench bleeding the cylinders?

bench bleeding is when you purge the air from the master in a vice by filling the resivoir and working it back and forth with a rod so that its filled with fluid when it goes on the car.
flares are a special type of fitting which is created on the end of the hard steel line and seals to the fittings of the hydraulic system. -------------------- |

well we figured out the problem, we're hoping at least, well, he got the tranny from another swapper, and when the tranny was pulled from the old car, the clutch was cracked, so when the previous owner took it off and reinstalled the clutch my friend bought, he forgot to put a bolt onto the clutch fork. the bolt which acts as the pivot point like a see-saw on the fork. so this whole time, where the fork's pivot point this whole time was where it sticks out. so we've gotta drop the tranny this weekend to replace this damn bolt. thanks for the help man, i really appreciate it.
