Another screen?, questions.. Options

I have a single din in dash cd/dvd/radio/aux input. What i would like to do is put a double din screen in mount the radio/cd/dvd player in the glove box. then run wires to the double din screen so it will display what ever's on the radio it will display on the screen. The radio has 2 AUX inputs and and Video Inpute and Output line, and Audio Input and Output, I'm not sure if i can do what i want do to do? I know to change the station and stuff i'll have to open the glove box but will it work what i want to do? I want the double din screen to show whatever is on the radio screen. is this possible?

i'm affraid that you can't do it that.... because those kind of stereos doesn't send any kind of signal by the video wire (only when it's reading a DVD or VCD) for the rest..... you're f... up

Its ok, i've decided that insted i'm just going to save up money and build a carputer. -cnelson.

i know it will be harder, but what are the down sides to it? I'll be able to have a GPS/DVD/MP3 etc.. plus everything a computer can do.

lemme take some pics n figure out how to post up on here, i have gps/mp3(ipod) dvd, xbox, n64, iriver & dvd all going through mine

double din touch screen with touchback - also plays mp3 dvd's if ya have a dvd burner and plays almost any kinda video (i make random 3d animation videos & render like an hours worth to play as a background while listenin to music - i highly reccommend it!!! iva w200

also in the works are backup camera and id like to find some way to have gauges (like boost, oil etc) show as a background

Wait is yours like a carcomputer? Also those features in one? or do each have an indivdual system? Because that just sounds like a lot to go wrong. Also how much did the whole thing cost you? -cnelson.

just looked it up a 1000 bucks. waooo. Thats a lot when i could just go try to build my own carPC for like 600-700 if i did the work myself. But post pics of yours anyway. I'm still up in the air about what i'm going to do.

I guess the question is, what all do you need to do in your car? hopefully drive it, listen to music and watch a movie every so often when you have time to spare but thats about it, even a dvd player is a pushing it in my opinion. I went though that whole fase then decided its not worth the money, got myself a good mp3 deck high end speakers/sub and called it good, rather then messing with all the issues installing a pc in your car is gana cause, big part of it is the power consumption of a pc since you have to convert the dc power to ac then the power supply of the computer converts it back to dc, if you get rid of your deck compleatly you have to get a amp for your speakers, taking up even more power, your gana need a high end battery and keep good eye on your alternator, also have to mount the pc in a very stable place, the constant shacking is gana ware it out very fast, cause connections to break and the hd to ware out quick. have to deal with shuting it down every time you stop and booting it back on when you start.

its a lot of work, can be cool if you pretty much live in your car. I'm not trying to be negative just want you to be well informed.

yeah, i only really got mine for the coolness, play music and watch cool lil things to give a wow factor, i make use fo the nav when traveling, i though about the car pa, have a bunch of computer parts around the house, but like he said.. the boot time turned me off completely

figure out your plans, go with a single din you have extra storage for ur cell/sunglasses etc, or a double din n not have that, plus then you have to worry about ppl stealin it cuz the face dont come off n it just sits there

like im waiting for some idiot gettin in my car to bump it n put a hole in teh screen, its a matter of whats worth more to you n how much money you have to blow on something that if you resell is only gonna get like 50% back if that
