put a video up, and a time at which said noise occurs, it will help us ID it.

QUOTE(Supersprynt @ Feb 22, 2007 - 8:23 AM) A blow off valve? I'm with him. The screeching noise you hear right before shifting is the turbo spooling up and the sounds after that that usually sounds like PSSHHHH! or TSSSS! is the blow-of-valve. -------------------- -Alex {](O_o)[}

He's probably talking about the fluttering sound a BOV can make when it releases pressure.
You can hear a really good example, 30 seconds into this video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zD_0HbPGDzc This post has been edited by gt_driFFter: Feb 22, 2007 - 6:20 PM |

whichever the purple greddy one, i think type r that one sounds pretty nice, when you let off the gas it has that flutter effect to it, but when you shift you can have either a flutter or a really hard blast - correct me if im wrong but i dont believe they still produce them, so if you want one you;d prolly have to ebay it

The ST165/85 doesn't. Alot of the early Chrysler turbos don't. And it's actually a BYPASS valve. Bypass valves recirculate back into the intake. BOV is vented to the atmosphere. I don't think ANY stock cars have a BOV. Not to be an ass, just so you understand the difference. -------------------- |

A very distinct sound. Like I said before, it's the sound of the bov, at 30 seconds into that video. This post has been edited by gt_driFFter: Feb 22, 2007 - 11:54 PM |
