anybody into cars knows that subaru is releasing a redesigned wrx for 2008. visting subarus website shows a countdown for the likely unveiling in several days at the new york auto show. rumors have abound for months of a hatchback wrx which would look like this

very nice in my opinion, i would definitly buy that.

but what would any hyped secret be without information embargos breaking left and right? i present you the 2008 wrx, courtesy of scans of the may issue of motor trend.

ug is all i have to say. sure it will haul ass, but what is subaru thinking with the design? first the 06-07 grill, now this. ok its not the ugliest thing, but it could have been much better. definitly the worst styling of all the generations in my opinion. hopefully the sti looks like the 2 top images

I think Bigfoot is blurry, that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry. And that's extra scary to me, because there's a large, out-of-focus monster roaming the countryside.

not a fan, granted its a hb, but its pretty blan\ugly in my opinion. and that wing in the first pics, nasty huge and deff not on that hb body style. I've been masivly let down my both subaru and mitsubishi with there new body styles. power is sweet though cant complane about that.

At least thats not an sti and just the wrx concept...even the new STI's are iffy and anything more design wise will get away from what they made popular.

the front looks hott. but the hatch rear isn't my thing. i love subies, but i think the only model i'd get is the 04-05 sti.

That's horrific laugh.gif

The Evo X is about 1,000,000,000,000,000,000 times better than that beast.

Eh, that Motor Trend scan isn't too bad looking. Looks more like a Pugeot/Citroen sort of European hatchback than a 300+HP Japanese rally beast, but OK.

My only real gripe from those photos is that nasty grille, but thats easy to change. By no means would this satiate my love for Subaru though, its really disapointing......'02-'03 or '04-'05 front end is the winner, by a long shot.

You can blame the Mazda 3 hatch's sucess for this styling trend... I dont mind it, either.

I was going to say the exact same thing. I am sure both cars are fun to drive but don't people want a sleek looking performance car anymore?

i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this.

People want a turn key sports car that they can fit families, furniture, groceries, and soccer balls in. This car looks like a Honda FIT thumbsdown.gif

Whatever happened to unique styling and only two doors ?

Enthusiasts do, consumers don't kindasad.gif I also have a feeling that european and japanese pedestrian saftey standards have really hinderd automakers ability to make appealing designs as of late. The days of long and low hoods seem to be a thing of the past...

the whole reason i like those cars is because ok.. you have a guy in a mustang, and he sees that car and is probably like oh yeah it doesn't have anything than the wrx comes flying buy. only reason they sell.. their fast cars.
