Ok so the other day i purchased what i thaught to be a cold air intake from a store on eBay called "chromeintakes"
After 2 weeks they e-mailed me and told me my "engine specific custom intake" was finished and shipped, then about a week later a crappy package showed up with some pipes lol, im not a mechanic but i have done intakes on friends car and such and im no stranger to the 7AFE. This intake blew, i couldnt even get it to fit without cutting a good 2" off the main piping, then when i finally got it in what i thought was the right place i stepped back and was like wtf, this intake looks like it might suck even hotter air than a short ram intake. I was really hoping i could get some ideas on fixing this hunk of #### , i included pics because i think there is a tranny line down there that can be moved but i dont know if i should touch it, considering the tranny is kinda important lol If you need more pics i have them or can take some if you really want Thanks!!!!!! |

Lol, that's the same intake I use to have too. It will only suck cool air in when the car is moving. So, the only way to make it beneficial is to get another rubber coupling, clamps, and another pipe (same diameter as chromeintake's intake pipe) and extend the existing CAI setup. You will then need to readjust the angle of the piping so it goes right under the battery instead of being close to the exhaust manifold.

All you need to do is get a 90 degree bend and run it to the fender. Mine is routed just like yours but it continues to the drivers side and passes out of the engine compartment into the fender and it works great. You will have to remove the resonator box in there if you haven't already.

HA HA... i bought the same sh** from the same guy. if you even think about keeping it on there then ur going to have a bigger problem than sucking in hotter air than a short ram. First off.... the couplers arent even heat resistant to the motor heat and will come off no matter how tight you screw it on. 2nd... When it does fall off( and it will) watch out for the cars behind you cause it will cause a law suit for you when it hits a beemer like the one i bought did. Do your self a favor and buy either a Dr.cai intake or make one like the one thats in the how to section of this site. But anyways good luck with that intake. i just built mine and ive seen the increase. Combine the cold air with new iridium ngk's and you will notice the power change.

if I am not mistaken you have an auto and that line flows coolant to the auto tranny. its unnecessary in a manual
