so I'm trying to find some performance parts for the 5S-Fe that I'm going to drop into my 94 St coupe. i have found an exhuast by GReddy, but I'm already having a custom exhaust done. What else do they make for the car? anyone got any parts for sale?

If you have an ST and haven't swapped you have a 7A-FE not a 5S-FE.

I think he has already swapped/ going to soon because it says on his profile "5SFE in a couple of weeks". so that is probably why he's asking about performance for the 5SFE motor.
As for your question naptown, i'm not sure specifically. havn't really looked into performance parts much. but i know there are of course different intakes and exhausts and turbos you can get for our cars. i guess i'm kind of curious what would be good perfomance for the 5S as well. -------------------- |

yeah, my 7A-FE died. so I'm swapping in a 5S-FE. I was going to try and build it out a little before I have it put into the car. I can't turbo for a while. so I need all-motor mods.

^ yeah get some TRD stickers and 6GC stickers. You'll gain atleast 25 hourse for each. I don't know how pulleys perform on the 5sfe, you should try them. Headers Intake Safc and some injectors.

Why go through the headache of an A to S series swap for a 5S? Swap a 3SGTE if you're going that way, or keep with the A series to save money and time. 4AGE or GZE. Woot!
BUT if you must go 7A to 5S I would get intake, header, exhaust, SAFC and injectors. EDIT : stickers are good too. My two 6GC stickers helped me run the 4 min 1320. Neither, just having fun
But for the record, Lew's vinyl stickers are excellent quality and value, plus he is a great guy to do business with. -------------------- 1991 MR2 - T-tops - Crimson Red - Gen3 3SGTE - Lots of money

Build it for strength but don't drop the compression - then later when you have the money follow Pressure2's 5S-FTE build guide and then you will have a fast car that was worth the A to S series swap.

the only way for any real amount of power for the 5sfe is a turbo. there are threads in the stickies if you want to learn about that. otherwise:
Intake: either an injen short ram intake, or read the sticky about how to make a custom cold-air intake out of an accord intake header: http://www.1supertoyota.com/products/rd10.htm exhaust: greddy used to make a cat-back, but it's discontinued and a little hard to find. probably better off with a custom one. camshafts: webcam racing is the only place I've found that makes any. but I've heard there are some other places that do. doing a search over at mr2oc.com might bring some more information. underdrive pulley: unorthodox racing makes a lightened crank pulley, but I've heard this can shorten the life of the motor. clutch: there's a couple that make them. I got a SPEC stage 2 and I haven't had any problems, but some other people say they have. people generally praise ACT clutches for our celica, so maybe stick with one of those. flywheel: fidanza or clutch masters. I got a fidanza and I love it, it made a big difference. Radiator: koyo makes an aluminum radiator. I got it, and I noticed no difference. I don't think it's worth it. that's about all I can thin of right now. but seriously, even if you did all these mods, you probably won't see more than 10-15 horsepower, except for the cams, I've heard they make a pretty big difference for a 5sfe because of how restrictive the stock ones are. but you won't be getting more than 140-150 whp without a turbo or NOS. -------------------- 94 GT - Sold -------- 69 Pontiac Lemans - Sold 88 Alltrac - Sold ---- 04 WRX - Sold 00 GT-S - Sold ------ 91 Miata - project/drift car 95 GT - Sold -------- 96 GT - New Daily Drive |

"5SFE" and "performance" hardly go together... unless in conjunction with "turbo"...

QUOTE(Kwanza26 @ Apr 17, 2007 - 2:12 AM) "5SFE" and "performance" hardly go together... unless in conjunction with "turbo"... It's all about being class specific. Last year the National Champion in the STS class of Solo II AutoX won with a KA24DE. I'd say the KA24DE and the 5SFE are comparable. 5SFE will never be a drag motor or an all out race motor, but I still love mine. And mine is almost completely stock. -------------------- Live Free, Be Happy
