I've been flirting with the idea of getting a new Tiburon. Every body I talk to that has driven or has one, says that it's awsome. It's been given high regards.

My girlfriend has an 02 Celica GT-S with the action package and it's a really nice car. I like the current Celica alot but I still think the 6 gen is better because it's not as common as the 7th gen. My girl loves her Celica but hates the fact that everyone has one. That's something you should think about. But the 7th gen has more aftermarket support. Oh one thing with the 7th gen make sure you get an 00, 01 or 03 on the 02 they lower the fuel cut off. If you do decide to get the 7th gen make sure you keep the rims you have on your current car because the new Celica has the same bolt pattern. Either way you'll still have a Celica and you can't go wrong with that.

Yeah, I say if that's what you want to do, go for it! You'll still be in the Toyota family, even the Celica family for that matter and have a better selection of parts. Its just something you'll have to wager with being completely original. Think of it this way: I'm guessing you already have 8 thousand bucks, or something close to that because you could probably get a good deal on a Celica for around 15K. The extra 6 grand would give you that. Here's a thought, drop that 8K or so into your 6th Gen through a swap and you'll eat anything on the road.

I'd keep your sixth gen, and swap in an engine if you want more power, because you could easily do that instead and still have money left over.
Plus, sixth gens are rare and are definitely fun-to-drive, attention-getting cars. Natalie(BlackCelicaGT94) and I were cruising around Seattle all day and after Hot Import Nights last night and it was just so much fun. -------------------- New Toyota project coming soon...

get a loan, your planning on getting one anyways, it wont be for as much and you can get practically a new car.

Glad Coomer agrees with me. It makes much more sense than buying a new car.

I'd say, if you live in a state where they down freak out about engine swaps, then do it.. Swap the engine, replace the struts, vacuum lines and etc.. A much more cost effective solution..
If you live in Cali then just buy a new car.. Hmmm, a SRT-4 (for around 19K) or a SpecV would be fine. I bought the spec (around 16K) and you can definitely feel the power it puts out (lots of torque - well coming from an '94 ST, one can definitely tell the difference) + turbo kits are now coming out.. The dodge is one killer car, it dynos at around 230-240 WHP (it's quite underrated by dodge in the HP department).. It's stage 1-3 mopar turbo update kits don't void it's 7 year powertrain warranty which is always a good thing This post has been edited by funks: Jul 22, 2003 - 5:10 AM |

me personaly if your thinking about selling your celi then your hearts not with its... so sell it and get a gt-s and if you want something cheaper the get and srt-4 or the tiburon(did i spell that wrong?)..People are telling you to swap in a new engine...but you should only do that if your truly love your car and want to keep it for a real long time.. and can't see your self diving anything else...

You'd have to weight using the money you have right now, and putting in a new engine with a more unique car, VS taking out a loan, or owing payments for the next 4 years and having a car everyone drives. Don't get me wrong though, I would like a gt-s myself, but from a finanical standpoint it may not be worth it to you when you step back.
