Cheap But Effective?, for $500-$800 what would be best use? Options

I just got my 95 ST and have about $700 give or take to spend....

i already have purchased rims and muffler

what would be best way to spend this cash on stock ST motor?

new shocks and sway bars.

there is nothing else you can really do to increase perforamance for 700 bucks.

you can not install a turbo and there is little to gain with 700 dollars of engine work.

thats a wise decision...if i were you i would put the rims on when you get them...buy a $30 intake off ebay..like what i have on mine...makes a nice difference...buy a header and exhaust off ebay also..those 2 things should run you a max of $200..and put the rest away...these things unfortunatly are not that fast..just somethin we have to deal with unless your ready to dump money into a black hole to make em quicker...like a 3sgte swap or somethin...i also wouldn't turbo a non-turbo engine...too many things to change over and too many things to go wrong..just my personal oppinion but good luck with it

i also have a 95 ST Manual model as well and own a GT Auto. model.

yea, like those experienced people said, new rims/tires, shocks, suspensions, and sway bar will do for now, then save it up for an engine swap such as 3sgte if you're up for a really nice big boost. other 2 options are turbo your 7AFE or engine swap to 4AGZE(which i am planning to do after saving up since i read the forum somewhere it said it is a direct bolt on the stock transmission on 7AFE).

but you will enjoy a good gas saving out of the 7AFE alot.

if memory serves me correctly 4agze's didn't come with a c52. Yeah, it will bolt up since it is an A series, but it won't handle the torque, then again maybe I'm wrong

yea, the stock may cant handle the torque, just switch the 4AGZE tranny and it should handle the torque but the 7AFE should be able to handle the power since most of 7AFE can handle the torque from the turbocharger. for so i heard from my last forum for my question on engine swapping from 7AFE to 4AGZE

C52 and later model ae111 6 speed are the only 2 manuals
for A series engines that I am aware of. 4agzes have had both,
the 6 speed is only on later versions. afaik
Silvertop and blacktop 4ages are a good upgrade also but
you will need a little more than $700.00 I would save it
or do suspension upgrades.

I looked it up. The 4agze came with a E-51 transmission to handle the torque, also read something about an e-53 too. Then there are the c50, c52, c56, c60. You can also use the c160 from a 7th gen, but you have to swap bellhousing from an earlier c-series.

what's a normal completed swap run? I don't care how exact, I'm just trying to get a ballpark figure. I'm trying to decide now between swap and 7afte.

just a nice difference all around..espically top end...it makes it feel more healthy...i like it a lot
i had a stock air box on it and i went from that to a CA off ebay...lke 30 bucks shipped...its a beautiful thing...its a 1990-93 accord intake

FYI stock intake = CAI

but i won't spend any money on the motor or anything performance wise on the ST....its wiser to save your money or invest it.

but if you want to spend money on your car, then do suspension and brakes

lol your right, the stock airbox does suck cold air, unfortunetly i didnt even know that till i was ripping it out, then i was like wtf...

yea i was about to get a short ram for my st... how does it already get cold air? a regular drop in filter would be good to then wouldnt it?

pretty much a good idea is to get a K&N drop in air filter and strip the resonator boxes. if you want you can order an aluminum pipe of ebay or something to replace the stock soft piece, thus smoothing out the track but the OEM one is pretty good on its own....SRI is just sucking in hot engine air
