now as many of you guys know, when i did my swap i was trying to get it done ASAP and i also trusted the condition of my motor seeing as i was getting it from someone who said it had been rebuilt, not from japan.
now here i am a year and some change later, and im about to move into a house with a garage and im gonna be bored all summer so i wanna treat this car right. the main project would be refreshing the motor, ive got an oil leak that i cant really find right now and i feel like removing the motor would be the easiest way to knock out all the gaskets seals and hoses i would need to do to get this motor in tip top shape, id also give it a real good cleaning, paint the heat shield and valve cover, etc. another task i would undergo is putting the ac in my car, i have the lines sitting at home all i need is a condenser, i just have a feeling that putting the lines on with the motor in the car is going to be hard. finally i would like to replace my master and slave cylinders because i get inconsistent shifting, sometimes its butter, sometimes its rough, and i have bled the clutch like 6 times. i feel like this could all be knocked out much quicker if i were to pull the motor, what do you guys think? what would you do while you had the motor out of the car that i have missed? thanks -brian |

great plan, brian. i would HIGHLY recommend taking the tranny off and possibly installing a new, upgraded clutch while you are doing all of this.
then get yourself an oem gasket kit and do everything you can think of. front/rear main seals, cam seals, distributor, valve cover...etc...etc... etc.. -------------------- 15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned

i was planning on having the clutch inspected, or looking at it myself. ive never really ventured to learn about transmissions/clutches. (is that possible?) mark said it was new, but we dont exactly know if that is correct.

i agree manny, however the inconsistency of the problem leads me to believe the hydraulic system is at fault, because sometimes its smooth as butter. also pumping the clutch sometimes makes it a little better.

do you think i should buy them individually from toyota? or are there any companies that kind of make an engine refresher gasket kit? |
