So since im not passing e-test and im kinda sick of my 5S and wanna convert my car to a more european styled celica, im thinking of gettin a EU 3SGE. I was curious if i can use 3SGTE parts on it. Like could i used 3SGTE springs, cams, timing belt, cam gears, etc?? I kinda wanna stay N/A but make it quick. Would these parts work together?? I was thinking of gettin a BEAMS, but the regular 3SGE would be an easier swap.
Thanks Bryan EDIT: BTW im talking about the 3rd gen 3SGE out of european/JDM celica GT's. This post has been edited by Valo666: May 15, 2007 - 8:18 PM |

yes sir, and as long as you stay within the generations, you ll be fine....although, certain parts wouldnt be as beneficial aas you would think , or want, they are still swappable.....aka, 3rd gen 3sge and 3rd gen 3sgte...
some parts you can swap around are as you said, valvetrain, cams, camgears, oil filters, fuel filters, and other samll misc things....as far as belts go, i really dont know, but would think that they are interchangable....also, the alt/starter/and thats all i can think of...and yes, i have done this part swapping thing before with the jdm 3sge's/gte's bro ^_^ -------------------- (\__/)

Yeah, valve train is fully interchangeable - practically identical. Just be sure to keep the 3SGE cams as they are slightly better then the GTE version. The valves, springs, cam gears, alt, timing belt, timing belt covers, rods, block, oil pans.... all the same. Fuel injectors, plug wires, and valve cover are NOT interchangeable though.
I bought my 3rd gen 3SGE with complete trans, suspension, brakes for under $1000 US. It really is a great motor. This post has been edited by scothaniel: May 16, 2007 - 5:18 PM -------------------- Scott

i said that i would see how much it would b/if i could...im like 3.5 hours away from toronto, im headin back on the weekend..plus if the shippings gonna b as much as i think its gonna be *ALOT!*, i dont think it would b worth the while. Plus i also might have another lead on another 3SGE in Toronto. But ill check how much it will be for you jeff, either pm me or talk 2 me on msn. I seriously think its gonna cost alot. I was gonna ship a set of 5th gen mirrors to Luke in the UK and for a slow UPS shipment was $165 and would take 3 weeks to get there. Im guessin the motor would cost like at least $1100CND. But ill check for you man.

I bought it from Jarco Inc. I picked it up myself, so I don't know how bad shipping would have been. I know shipping across the border is a pain - I sold a set of rims to a guy in Montreal and saved him around $300 by shipping from Windsor instead of Detroit. Getting across the border with a bunch of parts wasn't too difficult either, customs didn't seem to care about used auto parts.
If you find a partial motor and need parts, let me know. I have a spare 3SGE in the garage and a lot of parts left over from converting another one to turbo. I like having the extra parts just incase I break something, but its getting a little crowded. This post has been edited by scothaniel: May 16, 2007 - 9:15 PM -------------------- Scott

Any parts (small) you need for the 3S-GE i'll get em for you, i think it sux how you got ripped off over there with the engines. (it seems the post is cheaper from UK to Canada than vise versa)
