I have a 99GT that I bought about 9 months ago and I just recently took out the spare tire to undercoat(sound deaden) the tire well and I noticed that not only doesn't the cover sit flush with the rest of the trunk but also there is a considerable gap between the edge of the well and the edge of the cover. In other words, the tire well is like 24 inches in diameter and the cover is like 21 inches. I can't believe Toyota would design it like this!? Anybody else know if their spare tire cover is like this?

I don't know why they would put a faux spare tire in there, Check the fittings try moving it around and it should fit in.
