Yesterday was a good day.. Not only did some of my EDM parts arrive but I was also lucky in finding a set of 7th gen GT-S rims at the junkyard today for really cheap!
So I'm looking to get a set of tires to use for the summer only as the tires on the new rims are fricken bald like crazy! i'm sure the last owner was peeling out constantly to make the tires turn this way. anyway, my current rims now will be my winter rims. i'll eventually put some madd winter tires on it. soo, i'm looking to see what tires are best for dry pavement. sorry i'm a noob about this stuff. besides, we have short summers here. oh and seeing how many people here have a lot of experience with many brand names, please give some advice as to what brands or types and sizes i should go with and why... post pics if you can. btw, i don't like the really thin, low profile style (i never have to be honest)... i'd rather have something that offers excellent grip yet offers decent ride quality. and i'm really liking defgeph's tires btw.. what are they? they look outstanding. here are a couple pics of the new rims: *** check out the tires, hmm i wonder how the celica ended up at the wrecker yard.... I have ZR 205/45/R16s that are excellent tires. They are summer only tires, but offer superb grip and handling. I love autoxing with them. Bit expensive tires tho...

Junk yard? When did you have the time from your jobs to check out a junk yard?
Looks nice though. How much were the rims? I don't see any of the centre caps.... I hope you got them... nothing says oem toyota like the toyota symbols on the caps. |

thanks for the input guys... i think i've decided to go with the BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW 2...
the size, however, is something i'm still contemplating on... what's your opinion on P225/45/R16 tires? QUOTE(Starcraftjunkie @ Jun 6, 2007 - 9:22 AM) Junk yard? QUOTE(azian_advanced @ Jun 6, 2007 - 7:20 PM) t what's your opinion on P225/45/R16 tires? I wouldnt go with a 225. The 7th gen rims aren't wide enough for 225's. Better Ride quality and way better fitment on a 205 imo. -------------------- Teh Celica sleeps for Winter '06. Suspension overhaul begins........

I believe www.tirerack.com says 225's will work just fine (tire calculator). Wider the better imho -- as long as it is “safe” and “fits” well. -------------------- Past: V6 Swapped 6G Celica, E46 BMW M3, Jeep Wrangler TJ

Believe me, im well aware that they fit "fine" according to tirerack. I went through a huge research binge myself when i was shopping for the right shoe. And after talking with some 7th gen guys, they also said that a 225 was just to big. It thins down the side wall too much. They said a 215 or 205 rode better and handled better and from my experience with the 205/45's im very satisfied. -------------------- Teh Celica sleeps for Winter '06.
