find an obd-1 reader and see if u can find out wut Check Engine Light (C.E.L.) codes its throwing.. that'll narrow it down. sounds like some sort of leak though... hows it idle? pretty rough/smooth?

Agreed.

One of the most common CEL codes is a P0400 aka bad oxygen sensor.

I had something similar happen to me today. I was driving home from work and then on came the check engine light out of the blue. My car was running fine before and was running fine after, but it was a rainy day and with my CAI I immediately thought I sucked up some water. I got in there and checked the filter and it seemed dry, if anything, a couple drops of water had hit it. I disconnected the filter and ran the engine at home and everything seemed normal, but the light was still on. Ideas? kindasad.gif (all fluid levels checked out and I have no leaks that I can see)

like 3000 kms ago, it's not due.

I drove to work today and I didn't notice anything different, it felt normal, so I assume whatever it is is minor, but I think I'll still take it in for a check tomorrow.

Just so you guys know, you can go to autozone (or was it Advanced?) and get your codes read for free. Take advantage of this, it'll save you a headache.

Bummer! Do you know how to count the blinks on your CEL?

In your diagnostic port jump TE1 and E1 with a paper clip [make sure it will fit, if it won't slide in DON'T force it], turn your key to on.
Your CEL will blink.
Count the # of blinks. It will be a 2 digit #.

In regards to the original poster, I don't think Autocrap will read his codes [he's OBDI], and he's not going to have ANY P0 codes.

Actually, there's a shop a block from my work that can read it so I'm going over there after work and the guy is going to read it for free. If I have to have work done, I can just drop the Celi off and walk smile.gif I'm sure all will be well, but who really knows?

That's because yours is OBD II.
The original poster's car is OBD I.

Ok, and that allows me to drop my car off at once place and walk more than OBD I would? cwm13.gif

Regardless, I had it checked this morning and it's saying that there's insufficient EGR flow. Seems coincidental that the first problem on my old car was EGR as well. If the rad goes next, that will be scary.
