Im trying to help a freind hook up his Air Fuel gauge and Oil Pressure gauge to his GT,But since i do not own a GT or have any experience with the 5sfe,Im asking for instructions on where the oil sending unit is,and where he would find the correct place to connect the the wire on the o2 sensor ?

Pictures would be extreamly helpfull.

Along with tips on where to find power and run his lines.

the air fuel guage isnt too hard, i dont own a 5s either but you should look at his exhaust manifold and there should be a sensor with a wire running off it somehere, tap the air/fuel guage into that.

As for the oil pressure guage i think your gonna have to get an adaptor (how i would do it, dont know if theres another way), u can find one on eBay, search for "glowshift" in ebay stores, then search celica oil in their store. It should look like a blue sandwhich, they have installation instructions.

Didnt see that you needed tips for power wiring, i would say ground to chassi and power from the cig lighter. As for running the lines wrap them all in red or blue or watever wire loom and run them through a grommet in the top left of your engine bay, if u cut a little hole in it (be carefull) you can run the wire all the way down and out to where the passengers feet sit, then from there i would run them behind his dash and up his a-pillar( it comes off easily) If you got ?s please ask i wanna help.

well ive run all the lines on my celica and i do have a sandwich.

But i dont know anything about the 5s all i think he will need is the T that goes where the stock oil temp sending unit is.
And well since im in Tenn and he is in Mass im not really there to help him,so im going to send him this thread so im looking to get all the help for him that i can. Also he will be mounting the gauges on his a pillar.So i dont thing running his wires to the left side of the car will work to well.

oh yeah im tired,I was just stating that i have run the wires and installed gauges in my car,But this 5s is new to me and since i cant see it in person im trying to get all the information i can for him.

Complete noob question for you guys. Where in hell do I connect the air fuel ration gauge? I am sorry but I have no idea where these hook up. Thanks for the illustration too man. I already have a hole in my firewall where my system's power wire is run through it.

air/fuel? look on your exhaust manifold, there should be a sensor bolted on to it that has a wire runnin off it, that wire is where u connect the air/fuel gauge.

ey, i wouldnt. I would take a carpet knife and cut the wire down to the metal all the way around, make two about an inch apart, then cut the rubber with the carpet knife between the two "cuts". Peel off the rubber and you should have a totally intact wire with the insulation missing for about an inch. Then wrap the air/fuel gauge wire around that and solder, then cover the whole thing up with some heat wrap or electrical tape.

Its hard to explain but dont cut the wire in case you screw up stripping it alot and end up without enough wire to reach the original sensor.

trust me, if it comes off a sensor that bolts into your exhaust manifold its the right wire.

lol thanks bud. Ill try and install it tomorrow morning. Its a little sensor thats right next to my intake so I'm sure thats the one. Thanks for all your help dude

ive always tapped into a wire by the ecu then just ran it to the gauge.. not certain as to which wire you would wanna tap on a 5s though..

tap into the harness wire though..not the actuall o2 wire its self. If you tap into the o2 wire its self, you will get a bad signal because the wire is what gives the sensor its reading. It takes a sample of the air outside and air inside and compair the air/fuel mixture and if you tap into the wire its self, the sensor will take a bigger sample of air from the outside and throw off your reading/acutall a/f reading to the comp.
