Hey guys, some of you from SoCal know that im on a road trip with my friends i took to the meet. Well my friend was driving my car at around 3:30am and suddenly my oil light came on and then my check engine light. We pulled over to the side of the road and saw there was oil dripping from under my car. It looks to be coming from somewhere under the timing gear cover, but im not sure. We were towed to a town that is about 20miles north of Kettleman City CA. It cost us $200 already, and we don't exactly have a lot of money. There is only one mechanic in town at Mobile gas station and he doesn't work until 9am. Right now were using the internet at a motel 6. There are only about 6 places in this town and were stuck here until my Celica gets fixed. We heading towards San Bruno, and were about 100 miles away from it i believe. We have been driving since 11:30pm last night. Is there anyone near by that could help us out in any way at all? We're kind of low on choices right now since I'm about 5 hours away from home.

Hey, you sound like you're in a bit of a fix. Sadly I've no Idea what's gone wrong with your car other than gaskets/ oil seals etc. Are you sure the oil's leaking from the cams? could be the bearing oil seals? Don't know if that would cause the engine check light to come on though. If the oil light is on, obviously you've lost oil pressure.
Hope you get it sorted out. This post has been edited by Racer_J: Jul 31, 2007 - 3:51 PM -------------------- |

how low was the oil? if the light came on while driving, thats no good. in my st, the light came on, and a mile later it threw a rob, still ran though. made the 20 miles to a store so i could put oil in it and then made the other 30 home on 3 cyl

Ok yeah late reply, and obviously i'm not stuck in that town anymore haha. But it turned out being that my water pump froze, and then it ended up destroying my timing belt which in turn made my car like... not run anymore haha. But it was all better. It ended up costing me like $650 to fix....plus $200 towing....if only i was closer to home i could have gotten it down for MUCH cheaper. Oh well, I made it home safely and enjoyed my vacation . Just wanted to post a conclusion haha.

OK, get this...
Same thing happened to my car last Friday. The oil pressure light came on on my way home from work after about 2 miles driving, so I pull over... Lift the hood to see oil literally everywhere!!! Turns out, the oil filter that was fitted last time I got the car serviced was a cheap one and the seal's screwed. Anyway, got a new filter and oil change and everything's a-OK. For the record, the oil filter on the 3SGE is under the aircon compressor. -------------------- |
