I see alot of engine swap around and most of them miss the air intake tubing and the maf sensor...well of course you need that, so that an extra part one need to buy when buying an engine instead of a clip.

My question is there alot more that there is missing..I know the 5sfe uses component on the firewall like the ignitor and the map sensor..is there any of those "not on the engine component" that might be missing?

I see most engine comes with the harness and ecu, that's not a real problem so far..

I was just wondering about the usual "missing peices" in engine swap...thanks!

are you refering to the afm? You do need that depending on what gen 3sgte we are referring to. Yes you you need the map sensor and ignitor also.

In almost all cases you need to get an entire clip. Besides you will need to source other parts... even with an mr2/alltrac you still ned a JDM coil.

Clips are pretty inexpensive anyways now.... did you purchase one or are you shopping around?

Mine was missing the boost pressure sensor. Thats it. I picked on up on ebay for $30 shipped. I think that was a lucky find though

Especially with a 2nd gen motor, I would get a full clip since finding things like the coil/ignitor, AFM, MAP sensor, VSV, etc will just be a pain.

I stumbled upon a VERY rare situation when I bought my 3rd gen 3SGTE and it came with absolutely everything, so I didn't need a clip. But those situations are rare, and for the most part a clip is the way to go.

I agree with corey^ a clip is a much safer and easier way to go since you remove it from the clip and learn all the steps etc, but if you go with buying an engine set, just make sure it has everything you need and if it does.. should be fine tongue.gif

but if you have the luxury of going with the clip do that wink.gif
