Hey i was wondering I blew my motor in my DD its a 94 celica automatic. I was wondering i could put a 3sgte in it and keep my auto tranny? I would be using jdm gen2 altrac ecu. if that ecu will work then I just need to know if the auto flywheel thing(not the torqe converter but the thing it bolts to) will bolt to the 3sgte crank?

it doesnt work like that buddy..the auto ecu controls the tranny, it will up/down shift according to the speed and rev, without the auto ecu you cant use the auto tranny.

To do the 3s swap you will need to convert your auto into a man...then use the 5sfe tranny with the 3sgte or the mr2/solary camry. Be prepare to fork out alot of doll..and the 3sgte doesnt just pop right into the auto st204 either you will need to adjust the mounts slightly.

I think someone on here has done this but you're probably going to be spending more $$$ on trying to keep the auto than if you just swap it to a manual.

Besides, I'm sure that later down the road you would want to swap it to a manual after having the 3sgte in your bay biggrin.gif

you cannot use the clutch pedal and brake from the st185 clip..they will not fit, even the st205 clutch wont fit in the st204 (if you can cut and weld it to fit then its another story). Best bet is to get the st204 clutch and brake.

You can convert the AWD to FWD, too hard to do IMO. Just use a s54 tranny from a st204. Check out the stickes for more infos.

you cant use the st205 clutch pedal but you can use the brake, and no you cant use AWD tranny on a FWD car...unless you convert it.

If you wanted to do a 3SGTE/Auto swap, then you have basically two options.

1. Use a hydraulic (not electronically controlled) 5SFE tranny from, for example, a 1990 Celica GT or Camry.

2. Use the stock electronically controlled tranny and buy an aftermarket auto tranny control unit. I think Powertrain Solutions may offer one.

Just FYI!
