So it's a Kenwood KDC-MP635.

It was originally around $250, but I got it for $180. Should I pay the $50 for Best Buy to install it or is it not that hard?

dont go to BB never !!! we can all walk you through it... pretty straight forward...

main cables to worry about is black red yellow white... all the others your good with... those will be the same colors... blue = antenna and then just figure speaker colors out by testing... connect listen.. disconnect...connect listen disconntec... simple

he means if you get a harness its easy for yourself. dont waste money, all you need is to get a couple zip ties, that kit they sell from best buy with all the ends and stuff, and get a goood pair of pliers

or you ca get a crimp tool

basically its just matching wires/function

here is something that should really help you ou

http://www.installdr.com/InstallDocs/Toyota/PDF/869009.pdf

just read through it

yea..my gf surprised me with my head unit n payd 60 bucks for install..n since my rear speaker wires weren't in the 'stock' area, they didnt even hook em up. i didnt think she was gonna buy me a head unit for my birthday, i thot she was gonna decorate my car with stuff lol.

point of my comment is..i'm a noob n was able to rewire everything in regards to my headunit n its basically just matching the stock wires with whatever the new harness' wires n BAM your shiz will be bumpin in no time.

however, this is if you have the time to do it yourself..if you don't have the time, you could have someone else do it for ya..bestbuy is a lil steep tho u might be able to get it done at a car audio shop for a lil cheaper

honestly there are 4 colors you need to worry about the others you can guess with...

black red yellow white (they will match to harness of new headunit, and harness of stock)

as long as you connect those right you will be good

best buy hooked up all of my new type r component speakers for me, but putting in a new deck is pretty straight forward... if u got the time then do it urself, if not just drop it off and they should do it in about 5-10 mins

if you buy the wiring kit it's super easy. just pull out your dash pieces and your stock unit. now, if you have an amp, you'll need to disconnect the connecters to it because that's what the wiring harness plugs into (it took me like 2 hours to figure that out! lol) then one you have the wiring kit plugged into that and the wires plugged into the back of your head unit, you just match the like colors together. you can buy some wire butt connectors at radioshack for like $3 and a crimping tool for like $5 and then you just match the blue wires to blue wires, red to red, white to white, etc. and that's it.

best buy's installation price is $50, but they'll charge you for the wiring kit and installation kit anyway so it comes out to like $80-90 anyway.
