in stead of paying 20 grand for a brand new car why not ask my parents for like 7 grand and just put it in my celica, my car gets great gas anyway and for 7g's i could put a 3s-gte and new suspension. it would be hella fast and i wouldnt have to take the money out of my college account

To the guys who are suggesting Evo's and stuff, remember, he's looking for a college car. An AWD, turbocharged vehicle wouldn't be a good candidate for what he is looking to use the car for. Day to day driving, back and forth multiple times throughout the day, come on guys.
I'd actually recommend the new Scion TC, with a manual transmission. You're getting a sporty couple, that for city mileage, gets in the mid 20's, and highway driving can get you 30+. Plus you're getting the overall reliability and support of Toyota. http://autos.msn.com/research/vip/Consumer...on&model=tC This post has been edited by GotToyota: Nov 11, 2007 - 4:50 PM |

If you dont care about the look, performance...do like me and get a corolla. Cheap, reliable and economical. I picked a beated up '93 for almost nothing two years ago and still runs great. Save the remaining money for something better or to pimp your celi when you're done studying. In my case it was the best move since i got hit & run 2 months ago...and got in an accident with it last year...while my celi was safe and secure at home. An Echo/Yaris would also be good

How bout a tacoma? Get a 4-cylinder if your worried about gas and im sure you could pick up a loaded one a few years old for that. Plus plenty of room to haul crap

I'd go for the Scion tC too. You can get one maybe a year old with low miles and lots of options for 20k (or a brand new one with fewer options for 20k) I wouldn't want to hassle with buying an older car that will need more attention and maintenance if I were still in college. You're just not going to have time or energy for that stuff.
I test drove my friend's tC a few days ago... it drives SO awesome and it looks awesome. It's a fast, sporty car that's still practical and economical. It'll make you AND your parents happy! My next car is DEFINITELY going to be a tC! -------------------- |

He said he was thinking about putting a 3s into his celi vs getting a new car. Why would he want a TC or a Yaris? He wants something fast. If you were to get a new car I dont recommend an S4. Its nice its fast its awd and bi turboed, but why would want to spend a grand everytime something happens to the motor. You can to drop the entire motor every time it needs motor work. Do the 3s swap and suspension you wont regret it and plus its a 6th gen celica.
