so I bought my Celica about two years ago, and it has the "JDM Power Folding Mirrors" already installed. But I don't think they're that great. What's so cool about them? It seems like a lot of people on here think they're awesome or something. I'm actually considering swapping them out for some M3 mirrors or something else.

IMHO it's nice feature wink.gif. Only JDM celicas has that so it may be interested for someone...

the "JDM power folding mirrors" have the ability to fold themselves in/out with the push of a button.

They fold! That's what makes them cool! That's a bit like asking what makes Sean Connery cool wink.gif

I used to have this bird that would sit on my mirrors and scratch them all up and peck at it. I usually just folded them in but got the power folding mirrors 'cause they are cool and all i have to do is hit a button now.

i wired my jdm mirrors to fold in whenever my car shuts off and fold out whenever i turn the car on... no pressing any buttons needed =)

i can also prevent it from folding in if i felt like it with a disable switch tho...

but yea.. i luv them... they r unique... how many cars out there do u see wif auto folding mirrors here??? not many! except high end cars! plus, it prevents ppl from hitting ur mirrors while walkin in the parking lot or parked on the street.. sure u could do it manually with normal mirrors... but then that seems more of a pain...

^ pretty much the only reason, if you moving in an inclosed area, the car body is inline/just out of the mirrors. so equal chance of mirrors andthe cars body.

i waited to get a pair until i found a pair in white... when that day came i bought them right away.... mine are the later version/control/relay-less version thus i cant wire mine to close and open when i turn off and on my car as the switch unit controls the polarity...... but here are some uses ive found for them

first and foremost its just cool to have while at the meets
second is that when theres a vehicle behind you and the lights are bugging you or ur passenger u can just fold them in
third is when in a parking lot where u know someones lifted truck door might wack it you can fold them in.
fourth... they are just cool to have.... o wait i said that already lol

totally worth it in my opinion

i use mine alot, i have a narrow driveway with my family walking along the sides of the car while it's parked.. my car alarm went off a couple of times from them hitting the mirrors (luckily they didn't break)..

also, they're cool because they're 'JDM'! lol

they are really easy to install to an ST....but you need the switch as well. I did mine in about an hour.

All you need is 2 wires to run from passenger side to drivers side, then connect them to the folding circuit. Do not solder it until you have the polarities right, otherwise you will have one fold and the other retract. haha.

Apart from that, there are 3 wires for up, down and sideways. There is a colour key somewhere, but i had no interet so just used trial and error.

Hope this hekps.

CAPS!..lol

you can find em sometimes on ebay or on the fs section of 6gc. Also you could try contacting a member over in Europe or the UK because they are almost a standard on cars over there. And no, the switch that you have will not work with the power folding ones. The power folding ones do have a switch that looks exactly the same, but has an extra button on it that allows you to contract the mirrors. Plus these mirrors also have alot more wiring involve with them then you factory mirors, so it wont be a simple case of plug them in and screw them on.
