I want a nice GPS for about 300. Thinking about a garmen nuvi 260, but there's many more units on the market for that price. Any recommendations?

I'm paranoid the GPS keeps record of speed, and can incriminate the hell outa me! Can my GPS info be subpoenaed by the fuzz? Or worse yet, there's a ticket being written every time I've ever gone over the speed limit?

i think they technacly could get your speed but there is no way at this point in time that you will get a ticket from your gps and i highly dout there is any kind of storage of locations and speeds,
so dont worry bout it man you are fine |

Just paranoia... The technology could develop though. Picture this* Cops don't even stakeout at speed traps anymore, they are for the mostpart a donut eating wireless printers! Like big brother's watching from afar giving turn by turn directors and rating you out for speeding.
Back on topic now* what features do people like about the garmen software? What sets these units apart if anything at all? I'm looking mostly for a big screen to see the maps; cause I don't see myself turning down the volume to hear I robotic voice give directions. -------------------- |

as far as speeds... my unit(garmin) has my max speed at 495mph or somethign crazy like that, and my tomtom has a max recorded at liek over 1000mph... i dont think they can legitamately give you any issues for the speed as its an approximate value and any break in coverage, or slight outtage where the unit chugs would result in your speed being reported as an average 72mph say to like 300mph depending on how far/long the outtage lasts
but garmins rock, tomtom's are nice, but lack some features, all depends on what you are gonan use it for. if the cheaper model fits your needs when you're playin with it in the store and you really dont have an appreciation for all the bells and whistles and enhancements on teh more expensive one then save your self the money and get the cheaper one, more than likely your never going to use the $800 gps units to what they can anyways -------------------- you know why they put sheep at the edge of a cliff.... that way they push back!
