I have no luck with any of my Celicas so far. I have played with many Celica's a 91 GT, 97 ST, and 00 GTS. Im planning on getting either an EG or EK hatch. No plans on making it fast at all, It would be a cheap and gas efficient Daily. Later on when funds are available I will get another Toyota. Most likely another 6GC and fullfil my dream of joining the V6-6GC or move to an easier platform and go V6MR2.

So whats the main difference between the EG and EK?

In between ownership of my various celica's, I also had a uk-spec EK4 (1.6 Vti) and loved every minute of it.
They handle very well on a set of coilovers (better than my st202 does on coilovers), are fun to throw around, have a crazy short ratio gearbox (well at least on the uk EK4's) and have lots more aftermarket support than our celi's do......oh and v-tak, y0!! haha

What happened to the GT-S? Did your lift bolts break and stuck in there? Or did your tranny pooped all over you?

I had the famous misshift happen to me.

Im leaning toward the EG hatches. Due to cheaper value and parts are abundant everywhere. Plus they look decent as a daily, my other option was a AE92 which is hard to locate.

I plan on suspension upgrades when I locate one. Most likely a Ground Control setup. A couple bars, rear sway, etc.
I have been reading on Honda-Tech and talking to a few Honda friends mine. I would most likely try a B18B swap. Due to a decent power an tq and it takes regular. Perfect for a daily!

A Mis-shift is when you miss the gear your shifting into.

Say you rev to 8,400 and go to shift from 3 to 4. You miss 4 and put it into second by mistake. WHOOPS! You blew your motor!

The hatch's are ok but unless they have a B16 in it or higher B18 or B20 then there really not all that great .....If i was going for a Honda or Acura i would go for a K20 when moded they they can push more power and look so much better in the bay ......

Im not worried about how quick the Civic will be or anything. I would do some small things here and there but its main duty is DD.

Yes, I did what IdiotStick stated minus the 8400rpm. I was at 7700 =]. Was going to 4th but put it in 2nd. BOOM my oil light went on and there it went. I said "F*** IT" drove it home which was 2-3 miles away on limp. When money pours in I will swap another 2ZZ and sell the wretched machine. Hopefully I wont loose much. I have about 5000 in the GTS and maybe 2-2.5K more for the engine. So if I manage to get 8000+ for her, ill be fine.

BTW, i don't see a point in letting the insurance know about it. They will send it to a Toyota Dealership and get the ECU scanned to see what caused it and see a nice spike to maybe 11-12K RPM.

Does anyone know of any forums thats EK or EG based? Honda-Tech is too general. Its like looking for 6GC info in ToyotaNation.
