this is where i got my information (click me)
i messaged presure2 about this and he said he cut the connectors out of a 5th gen turn signals. my question, does the 5th gen turn signal come with the plastic thing on the end that snaps into the accent light for the projectors? or is this the so called "male connectors" i need to buy at autozone? this will help me a lot. i don't want to install the projectors w/out getting those lights working (pain taking of bumper twice) -------------------- PROJECT 6TH GEN

yes, the 5th gen signal connector will plug right in place, and I found out this weekend that you don't have to remove your bumper to change a burnt accent bulb

i used 2 female connectors to wire up my accent bulbs... ill try n get a picture if you need one. the projectors should come with a 194 bulb socket that has 2 male prongs sticking out, just solder, or use female connectors to attach some wire to them and your set.
i think you should put led's in them from the start... the hid white led color looks nice imo -------------------- you know why they put sheep at the edge of a cliff.... that way they push back!

so i just cut one off from a 5th gen and wire them together with the 6th gen one and thats it? wow. haha didn't know it would be that simple... i'll probably stay with the amber lights but yeah maybe led ones
jason, yeah do you think you could get that picture. it'll help me follow through clearly. i don't have the projectors in front of me its at home and i'm here in school. thanks culpable04, i have to take off the bumpers bc i have to put the projectors on in the first place and i want to get the accent lights working as well. if mine goes out, i'll ask you for your secret technique -------------------- PROJECT 6TH GEN

actually Jason told me about it this weekend, he explained to me how he change the bulbs without taking the bumper, he deserves the credit.
I have to change my regular bulbs for LEDs so when I do it I'll take a few pictures and make a quick how to on this. -------------------- |

his projectors came with the bulbs / plug already, all he needed to do was wire them, mine came without them, and most of the people don't have them either so , just go and get the 5th gen ones.

I just plugged my sidemarker lights into those spots. They fit if you just modify one small tab on the socket. I figured that they do the same job and the car looks better without sidemarkers anyways .

How do you get the plugs out without removing the bumper and pulling the whole light out?

took a few pics, if you would like more please let me know. click to make larger. sorry if some of them are blurry, its cold out so i was shaking a bit.
heres a shot of the whole assembly i have here's a shot of just the terminal, what it looks like, and also a size comparison. and when all together this is it lit with an led theres an electronic store near me that has these, not too sure exactly what they are called, i just was browsing the store one day and picked 4 of these up. think they were like 10 cents of something each edit: QUOTE(MaskedMan @ Feb 1, 2008 - 4:45 PM) I just plugged my sidemarker lights into those spots. They fit if you just modify one small tab on the socket. I figured that they do the same job and the car looks better without sidemarkers anyways . as i thought, if you get a 2nd set of socket & harness for the side markers (toyota dealer if desperate) just use that. ill take a low off and take pictures as a comparison then get back on here. bent one is 6th gen side marker, straight is the socket that comes with projectors yellow based led is 6th gen side marker, white is socket that comes with projectors as you can see they are very close. the side marker harness does not just plug into the projector socket... there are those fins on the outside of that socket that dont allow it to just slide in. i imagine if you file them and leave the bump that clips it in it would work. imo... getting the lil female terminals that i used for under $1 is easier than messing around with different sockets and harnesses that you still need to splice in. only problem is finding them in your area. finally wired mine up last night! they look sweet!
in case your wondering, Idid have to take off your bumper to do this. i removed my battery and moved my fuse box to the side. i unscrewed my corner lenses which gave access to the plug with 2 wires. i stripped the wires (not cut) and tapped in the two wires for the new bulb. ( it doesnt matter weahter power or ground as the bulb will light both ways) then just run the wires through the hole in the fender leading into the engine bay. I try and have pictures when i fix my camera charger. the hardest part will be putting the bulbs back in... my hands are a bit big for the tiny ass space to put them back in the head light ( and removing them for that matter) as for the plugs i just used wire crimps side by side and shrink wrapped them together. |
