Ok, so here is whats up. I am looking to get a new motor in my celica and heard that advance auto has refuerb motors for like 500 bucks. So i was tryin to put the GT 2.2 and swap out the tranny while im at it and convert it to a 5 speed. Good idea, bad idea, reccomendations? And im tryin to keep it under around 10k. Im pretty much just lookin for more power out of my celica.
Thanks |

Thanks bad idea. if you have a ST, swap another 7a, and convert to manual, or just swap to a 3s, and manual, and be done with it. -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)

Um, I think I have a better idea, and I'm not trying to under cut you Manny...but IF you are trying to stay under $10K, and you will be happy with GT power, then just sell your ST and find a GT with decent mileage! Most used GTs are WAY under $10K, unless it is a 98, 98 Convertible with low to medium mileage. |

Yeah. If you're pretty much happy with just a 5sfe then you might as well just sell your ST and buy a GT. You'd have no problem staying under $10,000. Even if you keep both cars, or sell the ST and still decided to swap in a newer 5sfe in the GT. If you don't wanna go through with all the buying and selling a car. You'd better off just swapping in a 4agze.

The rebuilt motors that advanced sells are pure trash and the gains between an st and gt are small. Your better off selling your car, and using the money to buy a manual gt.
