I'm considering buying one of these in a few weeks, and I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this header. Would you recommend it? What kind of gains/improvements did you notice? How does this affect gas mileage? Would I have any problems passing inspection? As far as protection, would you recommend wrapping or painting with high temp paint (I'd like to make it black to match the rest of my engine bay, if possible)? Input and pics would be appreciated. -Matt This post has been edited by GotToyota: Mar 2, 2008 - 1:00 AM |

pros: it is nice for show it does feel nice at high rpms cons: overheats your engine bay throws a code unless you do the anti-fouler trick makes your car sound farty in the beggining wont pass smog fitment isnt always direct bolt on for the mid pipe -------------------- ![]() |

So it's a certainty that it won't pass smog?

QUOTE(LewFX @ Mar 2, 2008 - 1:21 AM) not a chance, the header eliminates the cat completely! Are you sure? I'm pretty positive that the cat is under the car, from the pipe that goes from the bottom of the exhaust manifold, to the cat, but that's how I know it is on other cars, is the Celica different? BTW, it's just the header I'm talking about, I'm not talking about a y-pipe or anything. -Matt |

However, Cali has CRAZY strict rules about emissions. For example, here in texas, we can get away with ALOT more. We've cars that FACTORY STOCK cant be sold in CA and varrious other states including vermont, Massachusetts and New york. Every state has an emissions code, i recommend that you make a friend that deals stickers, or CHECK YOUR STATES RULES. Also, dont forget that HI-FLO cat. converts. are avalible for a pretty penny! lol. Also, X2 that ebay stuff dont always fit right. After they got your credit card, they could send you any old crap and scam pay-pal. as long as it has a tracking number. so watch out, the lowest price is lowest for a reason ![]() Good Luck!! -------------------- QUOTE (presure2 @ Nov 6, 2010 - 6:16 AM) Via FB: fcuking awsome!!! i bought a ebay header it work great for me , then i turbo'd my car and sold it. the car sounds great, you will not pass emmision, your going to make some custom work to fit it in. i was lucky mine fit right in, besides the o2 sensor i had to custom make to it because it only brought one. but besides that its a good first investment for your car.

Man, you need to use the search function. There are a few posts out there, including mine, discussing this particular header!
I've had mine on for one week, and I really like it. The product may have improved, b/c I had no issues with fitment or the wrong bolts. The only thing I modified was the gasket that goes between the header and flexpipe...had to make the hole a little wider to make sure it fit snug around the end of the flexpipe. I also was not able to get the second O2 sensor out of the stock manifold, so I bought a new one from Toyota World to use with the header. I have no "overheating" issues. My hood has the insulation under it and I can put my hand on the hood most times. It is not "farty" or too loud. No CEL yet either. This post has been edited by Celicav: Mar 2, 2008 - 1:21 PM |
