so me and my buddy have been playing this forza 2 lately (older game i know) but i personally like it a lot... could use a bit more visual customizing (ala midnight club: dub) but still very enjoyable...

only thing i dont like is the 5+ lap races... its boring as hell... i think its pretty accurate as far as the cars and the actual driving go...

im curious what are some other good racing games... im a fan of dub edition, just because its faster paced/unrealistic and i like the overall customizing you can do to the rides...

GT4 (the game not the car) has super slow gameplay and i just cant handle that... cool though how it has miles and the fact that oil changes are a necessity... :-P

anyways, what be your thoughts? bowdown.gif

live for speed is way way to hard core realistic for most people. I like it but got bored from it after a while because the lack of car upgrades. Its more for people who like to race and race alone.

I'm a hard core realistic driving game fan and always hated the NFS series.

Alot of the time you need different driving games to satisify your racing needs. Some arcade racing to screw around in and some realistic racing games to balance it off.

You mean LFS is NOT realistic right? It is an arcade game to the bone, far from a simulation.

obviously GT:4 is one of my tops but besides that

the Flatout series is a great one, I really like the smash and dash, do anything to get in frunt gameplay.

DiRT is another one I really like for the gameplay, its easy yet hard although its not exactly reallistic its very good in its own respect if that makes any sence.

Juiced will always be one of my top just because I think the modding options are good and I really like how diffarent each car handels.

one old one but always a good one is LeadFoot Stadium off road racing. cant really exsplane why I like it, the graphics are outdated but not bad, I like the handling, and the tracks are focused around tight turns and steep jumps plus the carrier is fun, its one of the few games where I dont just get first every time or restart the race the carrier pargresses well and the game does not really let you burn though it quick money wise.

the old NFS's were good back when it was just supercars and the tracks were baren highways but the recent onces seem to get worse and worse, I bought prostreet and do like it but its so fake I was exspecing much better seeing the trailers thus I cant like it just because of the let down.

One of the best games for car modding I have ever played is Street Legal, and Street Legel: Racing Redline. only game that I have found where you can actualy take apart your motor peace by peace and upgrade as you wish, so if you want new internals, you get to take apart the head and block and put in new internals, if you want more power you got to buy a bigger turbo racing cams and visualy install them. its a great game unfortunatly the gameplay outside of the garage is far from good, but worth playing.

X2

Street legal is an awesome game. There are so many differnt things that you can do. Also, you can edit the game files so that you can swap a V12 in a civic with some 20" rims (in the original). The only down side to these two games is that they were released with too many bugs. There are like 4-5 patches for each that don't even fix everything that is wrong with the games.

All in all tho the street legal games are great. You can build your own motor from the ground up. When you race you have to be careful not to hit stuff or your call will take damage. I would deff recommend this game.

I was a big fan of the gran turismo series. I played GT3 for a while, i think i got like 76% done with the game. Then I got GT4 where i was at like 52%. I played the demo for GT5 and it feels and looks just like GT4. Not sure what the differnces will be but i'm pretty dissapointed. I just recently got a 360 and I love it. I just bought forza 2 on ebay and can't wait to get that in the mail smile.gif...

Showing my age: I remember when Excite Bike was crazy revolutionary cause it was the first game I can remember that let you customize your own levels

Follow up: GRID

Just got it for PC, very impressed, a menu system that looks and works better then DIRT biggrin.gif , and game play that although quite arcade like, is very fun and physics wise is very good (again its an arcade not sim) the drifting is sweet very hard at first IMO but probably the best dirfting game I've played to date (most realistic.) I always hate it when games have two compleatly diff set of driving physics for racing and drift but this game seems to pull it off very well, feels the same but just like driving with slicker tires. as far as modding goes, there are like 55ish cars (of all typs) and all you get to do is change the colors to any of the preset "patterns" and any 3 colors you want from the list, kinda sucks but at the same time its not what the games is about so I'm happy with it. crash modeling is sweet, replay features is even sweeter and graphics in general are sick and very smooth on my desktop which is far from the top of the line. (AMD athalon 64 x2 4200 OC to 2.4ghz, Nvidia 7800 GTX OC, 2 gb ram.) I really like the gameplay, little more based on your team and advancing as a complany as appose to a just rouge racer. First thing you do after installing the game is jump into a viper and drive like a maniac though a san-fran corse, I got misserably last as I'm sure most do but that does not matter its just a quick invite.

anyway, I give it a 8.5 out of 10 (could be a little more realistic and more car modding would make it perfect.) for $39 bucks its a must buy for any fans of the genre, or any fans of DIRT.

I did have one problem with this game, when I first installed it and then tried to run it, I got an error saying "please insert an origianl copy of the game not a backup" even though I had an origianl copy, poped the cd out and put it back in and it started without the error.

SRS aka Street Racing Syndicate ...crashes count, you can really F up your ride and you have to pay to have it repaired. Your car is VERY tunable also.
