I've been having problems with this for awhile...first it was bad plug wires, so i changed those along with a new cap and rotor, everything was fine untill about a week ago. Now the car is bogging down at low rpms, usually when starting from a complete stop. I have to rev the engine a bit to get it moving normally. It only happens from idle to about 25-3000 rpm. From 3000 up the car is nice and smooth. Any suggestions??? Next on my to do list is new plugs.
thanks |

mine does similarly, heard plugs should fix it. it like hesitates around 2k and jumps after a couple seconds of what seems like bogging.. then again w/as many miles as i have on this damn thing it could be a whole list of problems..

is it misfiring or does it just not have power?
how many miles are on it? and how many since you replaced the plugs? is it getting bad gas mileage? -------------------- QUOTE "And, as always, your friendship, help, and dedication to the advancement of Texas Celica dominance is GREATLY appreciated. From what you are describing it has nothing to do with spark or fuel. Whens the last time you've done your clutch? If you have to rev it up to get going its your clutch slipping. Its not all done yet. You should check that when you get a chance, because when your clutch goes you won't be moving any where any time soon.

Please clarify bogging?
If the engine itself bogs (stumbles, doesn't want to rev) then check plugs and for vac leaks If the engine revs fine, but the car doesn't move or barely moves until 3k rpms, chances are your clutch may be going - though clutch usually doesn't slip until you try to give it gas (ie if babied it will be slower going but still holds) -------------------- '92 ST185, '88 ST165, '05 Galant LS, '08 Legacy

it could be valve timing if it takes higher rpms to get power from a 7A, and 'bogging' at lower RPMs. but for sure check for vacuum hoses off/damaged and check and replace plugs, wires, and cap/rotor. is your CEL light on?

This is totally lame, but I concur with the spark plugs idea. Also, when's the last time you put in a clean air filter? Injector cleaner? Little things like that that add up to an even slower 7AFE than ever before!
