I am member of a couple of forums, and one thing i like, is that in one of them you are not allowed to sale if you are a newbie with less than 50 posts, and also once you start selling, if there is no picture of the item you are selling, it is not allowed. And if you do have a picture you must include your username with a piece of paper (and this is recyclable) in all your pictures. This just proves that the item is in our possesion. Just like the below picture i borrowed from somebedy.

It not only protects the buyer and seller, it just shows legitimate business and piece of mind, and not only takes but 5 extra minutes. Just a thought.

see below, we dont have to copy another website, but can we do something similar. like, just making a pic a necessary evil biggrin.gif

right head light?! isn't that a grill laugh.gif
But i like the idea, not a bad one at all.

(the reputation system should be coming back soon though, coomer said it would go missing for a short while during the changes to the site)

+1 thumbsup.gif from me. I'd like to see the reputation system used more. Like, forsale posts have a warning inserted or background set to red if the poster is a new member, has few posts or has 0 reputation.

well that's why the rep system exists. Plus you can look over at a person on the side bar or visit their profiles, and see their rep, and post amounts. (those blue boxes under their names is related to post amounts.)

Personally, i wont buy from someone unless i have their phone number and home address (Verified) as well. wink.gif

Just my .02 Cents

Maybe this should be implemented for someone who has zero rep or less than XX posts.

I like this idea. I'm all for anything to help protect the buyers on this site.

But, its still comes down to the seller shipping the item. kindasad.gif

I'm all for using pics + handwritten names. Everybody has a digital camera/phone cams now. Nothing hard to do.

and if they don't have one i'm sure they know someone who does. i think that they should also be required to have a tracking #. i think this should be implemented.

Thats all well and good, but the problem with that is that most buyers want to pay the bare minimum for shipping, and it costs money to add tracking to a package. And even if you have tracking, and the package gets lost, the post office wont do a thing for you unless you had insurance.

I like the idea of preventing new guys from signing on just to sell stuff.
As for the rest of it, I think its a little too strict for everyone to follow. I know I've sold a lot of stuff with no pics and never had any issues in the past. I also dont think that people are pretending to have something they dont have. The real problem is that they get the money and then just decide to keep both the item and the cash.

^^^ yeah thats true, what i do to the people i sell, is let them know my paypal rep. which at the moment you type the email you can tell how many verified transactions as a seller.

Before i send money i always look at it, however at one or two occassions i have been dumb, and end up loosing to notbok (if anybody remembers that one laugh.gif )

I think we should probably have a sticky for buyers to read that suggests getting sellers they're considering buying from to do this, but I don't think a formal rule is necessary.

I agree with the idea of a sticky being put up. There is absolutely no reason a seller can't post a picture of the item with his username written on something. If the seller really decides not to, then he can't want to sell the item that bad...or he simply doesn't have the item.

as far as formal rules idk probably not worth it to enforce. but I like the idea of doing it and will probably due it for my future sales just to help the potential buys feel more comfortable about it. bottom like is no matter what buying on the internet is a risk, buying from an forum is an even bigger risk and always will be.

and fyi thoes pics with the names on paper above are way to easy to photoshop onto any plane white surface. needs to be written over a picture or something a little harder to place. IMO

I like the rating system on here (reputation percent) I think that adds a lot of comfort but I dont see it being used enough.
