ok my buddy bought an 01 acura CL type S. it has a 3.2 v6 v-tech engine (230 HP plus a new injen cold air intake)with 80k miles and a brand new tranny with about 200 miles on it. its a shame that he works twice as much as he sleeps. so he wrecked it while napping at the wheel. so im trien to work out a deal with him and drop it in my celi.now i didnt do any measuring yet but im thinking this might work. im not worried about mechanical work and a lil bit of fab work. what im wondering is would i have to use the fuse panels and every lil electrical piece under the hood and dash?

Are you talking about swapping this into your 6th gen ? If so it will be a ton of custom work, you'd be better off swapping in a 3sge, 3sgte, or even a toyota v6.

That's alot of work for only 230HP and some weird issues are sure to pop up. 4A-GZE, 3S-GTE or 1/3MZ-FE would be alot easier
But it's like any new swap - someone has to have the car and the engine together to say for sure.

After seeing KES-D making his own 3mz-fe swap, and all the work involved, it took about a year of work and it's still not totally "perfect".

You're going to have alot of trouble.

If you don't want to do custom wiring (speding litteraly hours and hours of studying wiring diagrams), YES you will have to basicly transplate the whole electronic of the Acura into the celica. But you're going to have to do some custom wiring anyway to link all the various component.

Then you will probably need some custom axles, motor mounts for sure, shifter linkage, exhaust.

And after all, it's not going to have the bottom torque of the toyota V6's.

common guys, if there are 240s with 2JZs in them, then why not honda in a toyota?
i've even seen a 3sgte ran by a honda ECU.

i'd hate to have to wire it up, but if thats what your into, then go for it!

it would be illegal to have a different manufactures engine in side the body of a different car.

But besides that, it would not be impossible.

If they can get the engine to run on a engine stand, then you can get the car to run in any car body if it can fit. Essentially any car is just a metal frame you can bolt any engine to.

only worries you have are axles, you would have to use ALL of the honda wiring.

I wouldn't do it. You'd probably run into many issues that would kill the project and ultimately your ride. A picture worth a thousand words:

how is it illegal??? ,if it was illegal then you wouldnt see Mini coopers/lotus elise's with K20s ,RX-7s with an RB26dett and a civic with LS1 and so on. where did you get this information from??

it would not be illegal to put a same year or newer engine in your car no matter what manufacturer. However it has to stay in the same class "car to car" then again Cali has different rules then New York. So I dunno

And if I could, i'd put an H22a or something in a 6th gen. Toyota didn't do very well offering exciting engines to us in the U.S. Sometimes we just want a powerfull N/A and not turbo. Honda wins hands down in that dept.

that's a lot of custom stuff and money for only 230 hp. a toyota v6 would be much easier and cheaper and you'd get around the same amount of power. might as well spend all that money and time doing all the fab work to drop in a 2jz. at least that way you'll be idolized by everyone and not flamed by toyota guys.

A H22 in a 6th gen, I thought about that, I still wonder how the damn thing would work, the celica being several hundreds pounds lighter and all... mmmh smile.gif
