Depends on what system you have. Maybe an aux button for programming a different function into? Do you use the same button for lock/unlock?

Do you use the same button to lock AND unlock it though? My g/fs Jetta remote uses 3, one for lock, one to unlock, and one for the trunk.

Dude!!! I have totally been wondering the same thing ever since I got my car! I've had mine for over a year now and still don't kno what it does! Its just the stock security system and keyless keychain thing. Top button locks/unlocks/panic. Bottom, can't figure it out! I've even searched on the internet for it and can't figure it out! Maybe I should ask a Toyota dealership or something? Maybe they could help?

yeah no idea what the bottom one does either. i think it could be a trunk popper but you need some extra stuff to make it work? no idea.
I just bought a new keyless entry system for the MR2, its BALLIN' its an RFID like the newer cars, you walk towards the car and it disarms and unlocks, walk away and it arms and locks at about 6 feet away.
no need to even touch the fob.

If it doesn't do anything when you press it, I bet it's an axillary button or something, one you can program to use in conjunction with any additional modules you install in the car (trunk popper, etc). What's the FCC number on the back of the remote? Your remote is totally different than mine, mine only has one button and frankly, is kinda wanky anyway.

Yeah, it's basically a way to identify what type of remote it is and what channel/signal or whatever it's called it uses to "communicate" to the alarm. Each type of remote will have that number on the back of it. The number is unique to the model though, not to each individual remote.
