Okay so I am pretty new here, already checked out alot of the aesthetic stuff sicne thats whats most important to me smile.gif

But now I am trying to plan out my car performance-wise and I have no idea what is what so thats what brings me to post!

I am interested in the best upgrades for a stock 94 gt coupe for my dollar. I'm trying to keep my gas mileage above 20mpg at least.

So anyone know what should be my main priorities?

oh and for some more questioning... it has 168k miles, and just finally had a problem. It won't start! I was driving and everything was fine, and when I parked it and went to go to school the next mornign it would'nt start, it will make the noise like its trying to start and all that but just won't start, my dad says it's probably an electrical glitch and we will just replace this one module that was - looking from the front of the car into the engine - near the back right. Hes right pretty much all the time when it coems to this kinda stuff but i was wondering what else could possibly be wrong?

Maybe the battery has gone bad? But about performance mods the first thing i did was replace spark plugs and wires and added a new air intake. You can get a SRI from injen (thats what i have) sounds great or make your own cold air intake. Just search it and there are how to's. hope that helps.

Would have to look at the car to tell without any more detail, is it clicking when u turn the key? is there any sound or light?

Performance wise I'd do pod filter, oil catch can, iridium plugs (find out the plug number for ur engine from this site and use the ngk website to find the iridium replacement code), spark plug wires and perhaps take it to an exhaust shop to have a freeflow muffler put on if your laws allow it. further than that ur looking at expensive / labour intensive jobs, furthermore all these mods will give is hmm this thing goes accelerates easier and sounds cool now but it wont give u a man this thing is fast.

So it cranks but never turns over? Do you have dash lights? Head lights? Wipers? Do all these still work? Radio? If not check the fuses under the good, I blew one and all my dash went out, headlights, turns, radio everything was gone, replaced the fuse and it worked fine. My car would crank but wouldn't turn over

And what is this oil catch can? What does it do? What is to benefit from it? Is it hard to do?

sounds like a starter to me, tap on the starter its on the back of the motor and has a black cyllindrical casing, if you couldnt jump the car than thats your prob... tap on the outside of it with a hammer for a few secs, it will tap back into place, keep doing that until the car starts... its simple on the 5sfe, its like 2 or 3 bolts and 2 or 3 wires... did it myself on my old 91 gt

That kind of thing happens often... american cars lose their starters all the time, and only high mileage hondas and toyotas will lose theirs... my 91 had 198K miles on it when it went.... thats a lot of starts

Changing the spark plugs and wires should be first. Take out the airbox and replace it with a less restrictive air filter. Also, change the oil. You should get better results with a lower weight oil. I use 5w-30 synthetic or synthetic blend and have gotten good results.
