Acutally Lojack is a hidden transmitter inside your car. When it is reported stolen the transmitter is activated and police cars equipped with Lojack recievers can locate it. Most stolen cars are left for a day or two too cool off before they are stiripped. The theory behind Lojack is finding the car during the cooling off period.

As far as alarms. Viper is made by DEI. They also make Hornet, Sidewinder, Rattler, Python, Valet, Avital, Wasp and Clifford. They all have pretty much the same stuff inside. I've had really good luck with Excalibur alarms. They are made by Omega . I installed many of them over the years and have never had a problem. You gotta remember that the alarm is only as good as the install. Their tech support is top notch. But most of all unlike Viper you aren't paying extra for the name on the box.

i have an audiovox prestige with the remote and it works good. it definately looks pimp when you got it hanging out the ignition and its coo cuz you theres alot of programming functions that come with it.

and as far as lojack goes, they have a new model which requires you to have a special transmittor in the car with you whenever you drive it. if its moved without that or even towed they'll contact i think its up to 4 different places of contact, your cell/home/beeper/office phone or whateva. if you don't confirm it being moved it'll be flagged as stolen.
