Greetings,

I'm new here but please bear with me.

I'm a previous 1991 Toyota Celica owner....loved that car...180,000 miles and the only reason it's gone is someone ran a red light and took out the front of it.
I helped my girlfriend find a 1997 Celica (she loves it) and I just bought my nephew a 1995 Celica (body is great and super clean paint and is 225,000 miles stong).

My nephew's car has the normal "blown" driver's seat issue that most of them have. I've done my required forum reading (thanks to all that came before me) and my own independent research. I wanted to post my results and ask for input. All I wanted to do was buy some cool seat covers for him...... and I'm two weeks into it and very frustrated.

Found these and thought they would be perfect

or even these

http://www.carparts.com/COVERKING-CUSTOM-F...ESCRIPTION.sort

However, when I called they said they were out of stock (on both accounts), so I thought I would go straight to the source and called COVERKING. COVERKING doesn't have a pattern for the rear seats of ANY 6G Celica, you can only get front seats done. Even though the links above are for semi-custom.... I asked about the CUSTOM version...same answer. I did put in a request for them to develop a pattern for the rear seats, but that doesn't help me currently.

Ok, so being the good uncle I don't want neat looking front seats and crappy looking rear seats....so I've been doing tons of research and I haven't found anything reasonable (read as inexpensive for a 17 year old) to use as a decent (cool) looking seat cover. I checked EBAY and found the leather ones that you all have posted previously....but really don't want to pay $500 for them (plus outrageous shipping).

All I'm after is something semi-custom....neotex (neopreme-esque) blue/black....or vinyl for both front and back seats. Did I mention I'm after something inexpensive? Thinking $200 for the whole thing...I can do the installation (I saw the "how to" in one of the previous forums). I'm sure you know where I'm coming from....I don't want yucky ill-fitting fall off when you get in or out of the car seat covers....but then again I'm not after super duper expensive ones.

Anyways, just thought I would re-post what has already been posted since I'm looking for seat covers specifically.....haven't wrapped my mind around reupholstering the front and back seats for a car that has 225000 miles on it.

Any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated...links etc....

Check with your local furniture/upholstery shop, they'll have the skills and possibly the fabric necessary, or can give you a price on doing it that will likely be much cheaper than going to an automotive custom shop.

I agree that checking with an upholstery shop might actually be your best and least expensive option. There are shops that specialize in auto upholstry, where I'd imagine it'd cost a bit less than a more general upholstery shop that might view automotive applications as "custom". (what upholstery isn't custom? biggrin.gif)

ok, upholstery shops quoted me over 900 bucks to get it replaced!! so if you dont want leather, from ebay, the other option is doing it yourself, some regular seat covers, or swapping.

for swapping there are two options. 7th gen seats or Mr2 Spyder seats!

Thanks everyone.....I will keep you posted on what I find.
Going to check and see if anyone can just fix that one area.

Will write back with my findings.
